Baking this cake, was the first recipe that I've tried by Pat and Gina Neeley. I thought the cake was pretty flavorful, I did however, add more of the coconut extract to the batter. Although, I wasn't crazy about the texture of the cake, it was more like a pound cake. Anyway, I do intend to try this receipe again, as my family truly enjoyed it.

Little coconut flavor (I even added a little more coconut extract, after reading previous reviews in this "coconut cake". Bake time WAY too long. It was done at 55 minutes, not 70.

    Hi guys,
This was a nice presentation and great tasting. This was easy to make and the topping was tasty. My dinner guest enjoyed it very much and they were putting in their orders for the next they come over. Thanks!!!

I made this cake for my Aunts' birthday party and this cake was a hit. It didn't last ten minutes. I made the cake because it seem to be easy. I hate coconut cake. Most of my family dislike coconut also, but when i convinced them to taste this cake, it won them over. Including myself. The cake was very moist and the icing was wonderful. After reading some reviews about the strong icing, I decided to add more confectioners sugar. It made more and it wasn't as strong as before. I making two tonight for a family gathering. By the way you don't even need to have the coconut flakes on it. I didn't. I love this show!!!!! Keep up the good recipes!!!!!!

I love this recipe! Jamie's is great and so is this Neely masterpiece. What's better than one great recipe for a great desert? Two great recipes! The Neely and Deen recipes always make me happy! (:

When I saw this episode of the Neely's, I knew I had to try this cake. My daughter and I made it. She is a coconut lover as well. I added pineapple extract to the glaze and a touch of salt to cut the sweetness and make it a more intense pineapple flavor. The only other thing I would change is to start checking doneness after 50 minutes or so. It seemed like it could have cooked for 10 or 15 minutes less. Even so, it was very moist and even better the second day with morning coffee. ( I couldn't resist. I didn't think to add the coconut rum or extract to the batter, so I might try that the next time. Really nice and different cake from the standard fare...and oh so easy!
