The family thought it was good, even our non tomato member. I didn't have large tomatos, but a lot of variety of small green ones from our garden. I cut those up in slices which made them like a tomato bite, as a side. Of course it took longer to prep, however I used up some of our green tomatoes. We also used corn meal instead of panko crumbs and added variety of seasonings for flavor. Family wants me to try it again with the panko crumbs to choose which is best. I believe this is the way my family gets me to make things again, using the "compare" method as the reason. Will try again though.

Delicious! My husband, who hates tomatoes & my picky 4 yr old loved them! Easy to make and flavorful. I used Italian seasoned panko crumbs and didn't make the sauce. This will be a new staple for us. Thank you!

I only used the buttermilk dipping sauce recipe, I used a plainer fried green tomato recipe, but the sauce was divine, and perfect with them! Fabulous! My kids even loved it! I thought the combination of ingredients sounded weird until I made it and then... WOW!

A completely tasteless version of fried green tomatoes. I even added extra home ground paprika and cayenne. While I typically like Panko for crusting, some taste gets lost without the use of the typical cornmeal. I also thought the dipping sauce was just not a great sauce. I will never make this one again.

I absolutely loved this! I made it tonight with green tomatoes from my garden. The only changes I made were a little oregano in with the flour and garlic powder, and also no cayenne pepper since we don't really like spice. I used the same batter on summer squash from my garden too, cut in 1/4 inch rounds. Delicious! Will make again and again. I try it with butternut squash or other fall vegetables when they're in season!

Amazing!! My tomatoes exploded this summer, and they were so heavy, they fell off the vine before they turned red. I tried this recipe, and they are SO good. You don't even need ranch they are so tasty.

Excellent........the panko breadcrumbs works way better then "traditional" ones. Didn't have the apple cider for the dipping sauce, still tasted great!!! Trying to figure out how to make this a main course - great recipe, thanks.

I'd never made or eaten these before, but for some reason decided I must try them. This recipe was perfect. Simple, easy, and yummy! Not too much spice, just enough for great flavor. I made them just as the recipe described but we ate them with ranch dressing and they were awesome. Thanks!! I can see these being a household favorite forever.
