    I made this for my family and some friends that were visiting. They all loved it! I made a few adjustments, such as adding some bacon to the butter to saute the veggies. I also used a pound of bacon and added it to the soup rather than just as a topping. As it was our main dish, this bulked it up and made it very filling and we were all very happy! Perfect with some warm bread and butter.

    I won't even comment on previous negative remarks about the Neely's. Wether you like them or not, they have some darn good recipe's, and that is what we are rating, not them personaly!
    Having said that, after making this recipe, it was a big hit around here. I would put this recipe up against any I have had in any resturant.
    Pat & Gina, don't listen to jerk's, just review their ratings. Keep up the good work.

    This was really delicious. I made it exactly as written except I used about 2 tsp. bacon drippings in the actual soup itself and added a few dashes italian seasoning at the end to give it a few extra layers of flavor. I loved the thickness and depth the beer gave it.
