Substituted kahlua for the brandy, but otherwise followed the recipe exactly, including the 5 minute beating of the eggs. No leaking, no fussing with foil on the pan. Came out perfectly, and everybody raved about it!

I made this recipe for a Valentine's Day desert for I have wheat and dairy allergies and many Flourless chocolate cake recipes use coffee which my husband hates. I subbed out margarine for butter and used rum instead of brandy (no brandy in house and no time for store run. I also used cooking spray and cocoa powder on the sides of the pan instead of the wax paper.

The taste of the cake was amazing!!!! It was nice and moist (almost like a pudding cake. Picky hubby loved it and I was able to eat a great desert knowing I would not have an allergic reaction. It was super easy to make and putting in my favorite recipe pile. Thanks Gina!!

I've been on a gluten free diet for 7 years so I was excited to see this recipe. Unfortunately it wasn't very good. I have other recipes that are more difficult but seriously delicious. This cake was not up to par. It wasn't sweet enough and tasted bitter.

I tried this using the recipe and found it wasn't to my or my family's taste. I made it again omitting the salt and using kahlua instead of the brandy. Loved it.

I had the same problem with butter running out of the bottom of my pan. Never have had a problem cooking or baking in my life. I was fasting, but my wife said it tasted aweful. Cake wasn't just undercooked in the middle, it was runny. Ended up making two devil's food cakes from scratch the same day and they turned out awesome! Sucks to have spend $$$ on brandy when I'm not a drinker!

As I am now gluten free, I have been looking for ideas for desserts that everyone can love. I remembered the idea of flourless chocolate cakes and found this recipe. So easy and everyone loved it! I think this is one recipe that may be impossible to screw up. I've already modified it for another flavor and it still came out great. I used two sticks of butter with no problem.
