I had the same problem with butter running out of the bottom of my pan. Never have had a problem cooking or baking in my life. I was fasting, but my wife said it tasted aweful. Cake wasn't just undercooked in the middle, it was runny. Ended up making two devil's food cakes from scratch the same day and they turned out awesome! Sucks to have spend $$$ on brandy when I'm not a drinker!

As I am now gluten free, I have been looking for ideas for desserts that everyone can love. I remembered the idea of flourless chocolate cakes and found this recipe. So easy and everyone loved it! I think this is one recipe that may be impossible to screw up. I've already modified it for another flavor and it still came out great. I used two sticks of butter with no problem.

Did anyone else have trouble with this recipe? Tonnes of butter was leaking out of the bottom of my springform pan during baking, making a huge mess. It was also very runny in the middle after 50 minutes and it had to stay in the ovne for at least another 20 minutes. In retrospect, 2 sticks of butter seems like an awful lot of butter. Most other flourless chocolate cakes use one stick. I will try another one next time...Pity I wasted my good chocolate...

Very good! Very easy. Not a cake that I would serve to children, more for adults because of the strong liquor flavor. Served warm is best. Nice crust.

I've been looking for an awesome chocolate cake recipe for my hubby's birthday. The one I tried last year came out terribly, but this one was perfect, especially w/ whipped cream & strawberries. We both loved it.

I love the Neely's and I've liked everything else I've tried from them but this cake was not for me. Don't get me wrong-it wasn't nasty, and it did have lots of flavor-just not the flavor I'd like to have in my chocolate goodies. I think the brandy was a bit too powerful in the cake and I'd agree with some of the other reviews that Kahlua might be a little more suiting. Or even a cherry/raspberry liquer. But that's just my tastes. (My 3 year old loved it. Gina did say on the show that you can sub in any liquer you'd prefer. I might even stay away from the alcohol and just use milk or cream or something. Oh, and the middle of my cake was a little soggy even though I cooked it the required amount of time so be careful with that..

What a surprise.. This is perfect for the chocolate lover. The intense flavor will be a winner with anyone who is particular about their obsession. I baked it in smaller dishes for two and froze the rest for a quick fix. Well done. Yummmm

OMG! What a great recipe! I've NEVER made a cake from scratch before! This turned out beautiful and was SO tasty! Every love of chocolate needs to try this. I served it to friends who just raved about it. I followed the recipe to th tee and no problems what so ever. Thanks Neelys, you ROCK!!!!
