This is the best chocolate pie I ever had. It was better than my step-moms chocolate pie. I made it to go with bbq that my husband made when we had friends over. I have to say it was better than the Neely's bourbon chocolate pecan pie and I did not think anything could beat that. My husband made a small modification to it and added 3Tbsp bourbon

Death by chocolate! No deep dish pie shells so decided to increase the ingredients by 1/2 and make two pies. It worked really well. I'm going to take one pie to work because one pie is definitely enough for hubby and I. This is a very rich pie and I'd say one pie could definitely have 10 servings rather that 8. More like a cheese cake slice. If you are a dyed in the wool chocolate fan, you will love this. You could add some expresso powder for a little punch of mocha flavor but other than that, I wouldn't change a thing. Oh, if you bake two pies, I'd say definitely check at the 35 minute mark because the pies will probably be done. I'm not sure how they are supposed to be, but I baked mine for 40 minutes and though still gooey, they could probably be more "pie" like. Don't over sugar your whipped cream. This pie speaks for itself and the whipped cream shouldn't add to much sweetness. It's already there! ENJOY and Thank You Gina!

I LOVE this recipe !!!!! I used a regular graham cracker crust and only milk chocolate chips and it is the best ! I love it cold. Nice and gooey with coffee. YUM
We used to charge $3.50 a piece for something similar in a restaurant I used to work at. This is better ! Great job Gina :

I too couldn't find a deep dish chocolate crust and then forgot and poured the entire thing into the smaller pie crust. I tried to remove some but it was too late. The poor thing was very crunchy on top and not very well set in the middle but the taste before I baked it was fantastic. I will try again but will wait to make it when I find the right pie crust, it's too pricey to mess it up again.

DECADENT, DELICIOUS, and DIVINELY easy!! Although I couldn't find the deep dish chocolate crust, I got the regular chocolate crust and put the leftover in a small dish and baked it along with the pie. WOW! I should've made TWO of these--loved by everyone! Gina's Mud Pie is going to replace my husband's birthday cake permanently!!

Good, BUT...could not find a deep dish chocolate crust. Had to use 2 regular size crusts. One not quite full enough. The crust got very hard and crunchy after being cooked. And the pie needs to be taken out of the fridge 30 min or so before eating. Will try again using a regular deep dish pie crust, and maybe 4 oz of german chocolate instead of bittersweet. It was not quite sweet enough for me.
