We don't eat red meat, but the recipe looked so good that I wanted to try it. So, I got five pounds of turkey thighs and used chicken broth. Otherwise, I followed the recipe exactly. It is SO good. My husband and children love it. I had to cook it a little longer and will remove the skin next time, but this is so tasty. I've wanted a stew to replace beef stew and now I have it. When it gets colder, I'm going to add in potatoes and skip the noodles. Great recipe!!

I watched this episode and my mouth just watered as they fixed their bowls of stew. I decided to get the ingredients and give this recipe a try for my Sunday dinner, and boy was is it a hit! My husband loved it! This recipe is a definite keeper. Thanks Gina!

Does anyone have any suggestions for what I could substitute for the red wine? Prohibition is in full effect over here where I live :-

You definitely don't want to sub a white wine for a red in a recipe (or vice versa Just ask someone at your local market for a nice red wine suggestion. I would go for something on the drier side. I have used a nice Red Zin in a few different recipes and it was very good. This is generally the red I have on hand as it is my favorite. You don't want to buy a bad wine because when you cook with it the flavor is intensified. Hope this helps. Good luck! Can't wait to try this recipe. It reminds me of my grandma's so I am gonna give it a 5!!

When you see red wine or white wine in a recipe how do you know which kind to buy especially if you don't drink red wine?
I made a recipe from Tyler Florence (I think it was Osso Bocco with wine and used some white wine that I had in the house and it tasted like crap. The entire recipe was ruined.
Please help.

Im always looking for a twist. Something different, something new & this recipe certainly met that expectation. Im more of a brown gravy, savory meat type. The wine just didnt work for my pallet. I will use pieces of this recipe to my original as Im sure it will compliment it beautifully. I will however use this recipe as a "Showoff Dish" as it just seems so tasty and fancy.

Very simple - and easy to throw together -- but delicious!! Like others have said -- I let it cook longer --- almost 5 hours before I was happy with the oxtails --- but worth the wait... and the egg noodle prep was perfect! Will definitely put this in the stew rotation!
