I added sugar and a little cinnamon to the spice and used Ancho chili pepper instead of powder. I couldn't find the powder. I cut the black pepper from the recipe, since I used ancho chili pepper. The salad was amazing. It reminds me of the salad at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant Downtown Disney in Florida. Absolutely amazing salad. Gina does it again!!

I was skeptical about the bacon drippings but it was absolutely delicious. And the spice nuts were tasty and went very nicely with salad.

On the show, Pat made the salad. For the dressing he sweated a diced onion in butter for a few minutes, then added almost a half pund of bacon cut about a 1/3 to 1/2 inch, and fried till the bacon was crisp (required attention. He then added about 1/3 to 1/2 a cup of red wine vinegar to de-glaze, no draining of the bacon grease! He sweetened it with a 1/3 of a cup or so of dark brown sugar and simmered for a few minutes, then removed from the heat. Pour the warm dressing over the spinach, and toss. Unbelievably good!!!!!! I did the pecans as directed, but with only salt and pepper to spice. THe BEST spinache salad I ever had, bar none!!!!!

This is the best salad I have ever eaten! I don't like blue cheese, so I used gorgonzola instead. It was simply amazing!

This was excellent... I will make this salad many more times. Quick and easy and the flavors blend perfectly. I'm not sure about the pecans as I improvised on the spices. But even without the pecans it was delicous.

Really good...easy to make. Will add more spice to the pecans next time - I expected them to have more flavor and a little more kick but overall the salad was great.
