Ingredients
Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 9 by 13-inch baking dish with 1 tablespoon butter.

Cut each of the yams into 8 evenly shaped wedges. Lay them out in the prepared baking dish in an even layer. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar and allow to dissolve. Mix in syrup and cook until smooth. Pour the glaze over the yams and sprinkle with nutmeg.

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for about 45 minutes or until the yams are tender when pierced with a fork but they still hold their shape.

    Extremely delicious!
One of the best recipes we tried for sweet potatoes on Thanksgiving. Very full taste that EVERYONE loved! Didn't change a thing except that we cooked it in a glass dish with a lid. Time went over approximately 25 mins....well worth the wait!
I can just barely cook and made this first time ever, first try today at Thanksgiving and they were perfect. Exactly as I hoped they would turn out. Simple, great recipe. Many thanks!
EXCELLENT TASTE AND EASY TO PREPARE. I BAKED MY SWEET POTATOES IN TWO DISHES TO ALLOW WEDGES TO LAY IN SYRUP WHEN BAKING. TO ME, THERE IS NO NEED FOR MARSHMELLOWS OR NUTS. THIS IS A VERY GOOD RECIPE.
I've been making them for years and it's the ultimate favorite of my family!!
    Simply delicious
Great Recipes! The maple syrup is a nice touch.
Delicious!! This recipe is so easy and fabulous.
Personally i'm not a fan of sweet potatoes, but the reviews from my family were great. They gobbled them up in no time.
so simple and so divine. I made this several years ago and it instantly became a family favorite.
My favorite and easiest recipe for sweet potatoes! Sometimes I add a few chopped pecans and top with marshmellows and bake til marshmellows are brown.
Only one word describes this recipe...YUMMY!!
Recipe was spot on tasty! Husband said that I nailed the perfect sweet potatoes and it tastes better than the way his mom and my mom make it. The sweet potatoes kept its form and was able to pick them up with a fork without falling apart.
I made these sweet potatoes for new years dinner and omg I cant wait to make them again! the maple syrup is a great idea.
I made this for a side dish for Thanksgiving. I added a bit of bourbon and topped with chopped pecans. I'm only mildly fond of sweet potatoes, but this was like eating a wonderful pie!
Loved it. I brought it to a family member's Thankgiving dinner and it was yum-mmy! I enjoyed it, so did the family but b/c of the foil application (steam--water and the butter, it was a pinch too thin for me. I like my sauce a little bit on the thick side, so next time I will use less butter and add a bit more syrup &/or brown suga baby!!. Otherwise--fab
I did a quick, couple minute, boil of the potatoes. I removed them from the water and once cooled, I sliced them. They were delicious! It was a family hit. Everyone was looking for more but there were no leftovers. Next time I will double the quantity. This dish is easy to make and has become a favorite.
Definitely an easy and delicious sweet potato side dish. I sliced them crosswise rather than lengthwise since I was concerned they would fall apart as I tend to over-bake them. I also sprinkled the dish with salt and pepper which gave it a more savory rather than sweet flavor which we prefer in a side dish. It is so easy to assemble this dish that it is now my go-to recipe for sweet potatoes.
Absolutely delicious! Third year we're making this recipe over our family favorite candied yams.
YUMMY! Worth the time to make and enjoy

Absolutely out of this world! My picky eater will actually eat this colored vegetable! Delicious!!! Thanks for such an amazing recipe!
LOVE LOVE! NEVER THOUGHT TO USE MAPLE SYRUP AND A NICE TOUCH!
Only change was cutting the sweet potatoes crosswise as I had some funky shaped potatoes in my Organic Box. Otherwise, made perfectly as directed and sooooo good
Super tasty! Wish I could upload my iPhone photo of this ridiculously delicious and easy dish of yams! I made it in one dish from start to finish. Pyrex dish on low heat on the cooktop to melt the sweet & buttery goodness then I used my tongs to incorporate the cut yams into the liquid before their oven time. Covered with foil for 45 minutes and víola!
I made this last year and everyone loved it. defenetly worth a try simple and delicious!
I made this recipe as directed except, during the last 15 minutes of baking, I added about 2/3 cup chopped toasted sugared pecans and some Honey Special K cereal to make a crunchy sweet topping. My husband absolutely raved about how delicious it was when combined with grilled pork tenderloin and a raspberry, pecan, feta cheese and spinach/mixed green salad with raspberry vinagrette dressing. The melding of all those flavors was superb - Thanks so much - this will be a favorite!!
We made this recipe to the T and they are simply the best!!
OMG THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME EVER MAKING YAMS AND THEY WERE SOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD. THIS WILL NOW BE MY SIGNATURE DISH AT FAMILY DINNERS LOL THANKS "BIG DADDY AND SWEET GINA" LOVE U GUYS
Love this recipe!!!!! I've cooked it twice.
I made this recipe and was not disappointed. It was very good. I did not have nutmeg so I used a dash of cinnamon. I will use less butter the next time also. Very good. The natural sweetness of the potatoe's comes through. Will prepare again. Thanks Neely's.

I was at my aunts house for dinner and I don't really care for sweet potatoes, but she ask me to taste them and I loved them. I made them for thanksgiving and they were a hit. Thanks Gina and Pat.
