I will never buy applesauce again. I love this recipe! I've already made it about a dozen times, and it never lasts more than a few days. This fall, I bought several pounds of apples to make an enormous batch to put in the freezer so I can have it all winter. The only change I made is that I put the applesauce through a food mill to give it a smoother consistency.

I halved this recipe for just my hubby and I and served this still warm with a pork roast, hands down, the best applesauce I have ever had. So easy to make, only takes a few minutes of prep time. Used an immersion blender instead of potato masher. Highly recommend and will def. make again.

This is awesome, and while it is suggested to enjoy while it is warm, it is that much more enjoyable when chilled. It seems that the apple sauce congeals when chilled giving it more substance. My wife and daughter really enjoyed this and said it was better than my Grandmothers...

This dish was delicious!! I made it for my family after having extra apples from making French Apple Tart (by Ina Garten, also delicious, I needed something to do with the browning apples. I looked up applesauce and came across this recipe. You will not be sorry making this recipe!!

Delicious! I didn't have any apple juice or cider, so I substituted water with a splash of cranberry juice. Turned out just fine, although I will definitely make again in the fall when I have cider on hand!

So easy and so good, especially with pork. I substituted vanilla sugar for the brown sugar which gave it a nice depth.

I am care giving for a Gentlemen that has Cancer and is going through Chemo and who is also a diabetic. He wanted applesauce with his Pork Roast so went to the store to buy some. even the unsweetend applesauce had 10g of sugar. so I came home and got on Food Network and found this recipe. I omitted the brown sugar for Jim and IT WAS THE BEST APPLESAUCE HE HAD EVER EATEN. I add the Brown Sugar for the rest of us and I can say IT WAS THE BEST I HAD EVER EATEN ALSO ALONG WITH THE REST OF THE FAMILY. Thank you Neely's for your amazing recipe!! I LOVE FOOD NETWORKS SITE!

This was absolutely delicious!! My kids loved it and I feel so much better about making applesauce homemade VS buying the store bought kind and not knowing what all goes into it.
Hands down an amazing recipe! Thanks Neely's!
(all I did was omit the nutmeg, cause my kids don't like the flavor. And I also added a tad more cinnamon since my kids LOVE it
