I totally agree with ladylei2005 that cayenne pepper is a great topping. Tried the maple sugar too but our guests and I much preferred the pepper. We used red pepper powder, which may be the same thing...

I love them...however, I added a little bit of cayenne pepper to give it a little of the Gina and Pat kick. That made them awesome. I think you should try it.

Tasty and a fun way to get some veggies into the kiddos. I told my 4 year old I made her "green chips" (her favorite color and she LOVED them. I followed the recipe to the letter except I used barely a pinch of brown sugar - far less than the 1 teaspoon - and that was plenty. It helps to try to get the pieces roughly the same size as smaller pieces will crisp up quicker than larger ones. It won't satisfy my cravings for potato chips, but the crispy delicate texture is delightful, will make again.

Extremely easy to make. Two things to warn you about: 1 The batch shrinks a lot so don't be fooled by the initial size. 2 Be careful with the salt it doesn't take much. I don't find the sugar necessary. Enjoy!

I followed the recipe to the T and it was absolutely terrible. It smelled like garbage while cooking, the chips never really got crispy even though there was no overlap (put them in at 300 degrees for 30 minutes. When you try to put them in your mouth they crumble like a jenga tower then look like cigarette ashes. Gross.

YUM!! I turned up the oven to 350 because I didn't have time to wait 25 min per batch and just watched it closely. Took under 10 minutes per batch. I drizzled in truffle oil and sprinkled on pink salt. Came out awesome!! My husband tasted the raw kale and wrinkled his nose. After he took a taste of the finished product he couldn't stop eating it. And I noticed NO smell when cooking, so not sure why others had that issue.

I love kale chips, they're awesome when I'm on a low fat/low sodium diet because you need VERY little salt. However, I'm not a huge fan of olive oil, mostly because I can never seem to get the right consistency. I put too much on, then the chips don't bake properly. So, instead I just lightly spray the dry kale pieces with a pan spray, then add salt and whatever other spices I'm in the mood for. This also saves tons of calories and fat!

Yes, I liked it. I thought it was a great way to try something new. I used my little toaster oven and it was a snap to fix. It's a fine and good tasting substitute for potato chips.
