This is so easy and so good. I did not add lime zest. It tasted very limey with just the lime juice.
I mixed in pieces of an already made graham cracker crust to the ice cream.
I also made this with lemon juice instead of the lime juice for a lemon pie ice cream and it was also very good.
Delicious and very easy to make. Put the broken graham crackers directly into the ice cream maker toward the end of the cycle. The crackers add more texture to the dessert. You can still garnish with them well. Enjoy.
This recipe is insanely good and so incredibly easy. Per the reviews I used the Nellie and Joes Key Lime Juice and added the frozen graham cracker crust at the last few minutes of churning. I typically will strain the mixture 2 to 3 times prior to adding the lime zest and before putting it in the fridge to chill. It does help to make the finished product a little bit smoother. Once it comes out of the maker, I pour the mixture in a 9x13 pan to firm up. I read that having a larger pan allows the ice cream to set up faster and eliminates the risk of ice crystals forming. It seems like a little bit more work, but it's not that bad.
I lightened this recipe up significantly by using fat-free sweetened condensed milk and substituting fat-free half-and-half for the heavy cream. It still came out smooth, creamy and delicious! I also used Joe and Nellie's lime juice (great flavor. Make sure your mix is super-cold; mine refrigerated overnight and then spent 20 minutes in my ice cream maker. Perfect!
Super-easy, very tasty! We added broken up pieces of frozen graham crackers during the last 5 minutes in the ice cream maker instead of using it as a garnish, and it was still wonderful.
Oh me, oh my, this is AMAZING! We've made it twice already this summer and must make more soon because my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Maybe next time we'll put it in a graham cracker crust and serve as an ice cream pie. Thank you Neelys for sharing this oh-so-tasty recipe!
FABULOUS!! And easy!! It took longer to set up than the recipe states, but this tastes so good!! I will make it again...and again, and again!
Key Lime Pie Ice Cream is our summer "company's comin'" go-to recipe. Guaranteed hit (except for calorie counters. But be forewarned: One night I turned our old fashioned ice cream maker over to some relatives. After about 50 minutes, someone tapped me on the shoulder, "Shouldn't the ice cream be ready by now?" We ended up with a kinda weird Sweet Lime Butter.
I used Nellie and Joe's Key Lime Juice (and did not use zest. Also baked a store bought graham cracker crust (@300 for about 15 minutes. Placed the crust in the freezer while the ice cream mixture was in the machine. Crumbled the crust into the ice cream during the last few minutes the ice cream was churning. Like eating a frozen key lime pie. Tart and refreshing!
OMG AMAZING. I love key lime pie so I had to try this ice cream and it is soooooo good. It was funny I ran out of lime juice so I used half lime and half lemon juice. So I called it my Key Lemon Lime Pie. IT WAS SO GOOD!!!
really good! I made a graham cracker crust and put some chunks into the ice cream right at the end.
I decided to make this recipe (after having it in my recipe file for months) and all I can say is ...... delicious!!! The ice cream is very smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of tartness. I was even lazy and decided to use bottled lime juice and the zest of one lime. This is a very easy recipe due to the fact that there are no eggs, therefore no need to cook the custard. This is such a wonderful change from the usual strawberry, chocolate, or vanilla icecream.
    delicios
I could only get 3/4 cup of lime juice out of my limes (they were really dry), but it was great anyway. I didn't think it would work, but it really does taste like key lime pie -- in ice cream form! The lime zest got caught up in the ice cream maker paddles, but maybe that was for the best, since I see some of the other reviewers thought it was too limey. Chocolate-covered grahams were a good garnish.
i tried it and it was Awesome! the condensed milk was sweet but the lime balanced it out!
I just made this and it is so good! I didn't think I would ever find an ice cream that I love so much!
I made this and it had way too much lime- it was way too tart and took over the flavour. I think over-all this is a great recipe- but I will cut back on the lime next time. It tasted fine before it was frozen- but somehow the lime got stronger- not sure what happened since I followed the recipe.
I could not believe how good this ice cream was! It was so simple I didn't think it would really taste like key lime pie, but OMG! I can't believe more people haven't tried it yet. I've told all my friends about it. For added presentation, I used miniature graham cracker pie shells to serve individual portions (one scoop is really all you need). The taste was great and the presentation was excellent! Good job Neelys.
Pat and Gina Neelyyyyy this ice cream is out of this world!!! I love it love it love it!!! This is my first time making ice cream today...I had to try it out...It looked so delicious on your show.....I give this recipe 10,000 stars!!!!!!!!

Wonderful. Great taste. Will make include it in the "Family Favorites". Will serve this along with other desserts for Thanksgiving. Keep these recipies coming.
The ice cream was out of this world; very refreshing and tasted very much like Key Lime Pie. I crushed the graham crackers and added them to the ice cream machine with a few minutes left. Definitely will make again.
