I have made this recipe twice in the last 2 1/2 weeks.. It is the BEST! The only thing I did differently was added other veggies besides the carrots. The meat is so tender you don't even need a knife! The flavor is perfect! My dinner guest called it an elegant pot roast! I can't wait to make it again!

Love this recipe almost as much as I love the Neelys! I made this for supper tonight. My family loved it! I didn't have any wine so I used about a half cup of red wine vinegar. I have an abundance of turnips from our garden so I added some of them, too. When it was done cooking, I removed the meat and vegetables from the pot, de-glazed the sides with the delicious juices, added some ( 1 stick butter, a ladle of the pasta water (taken when the pasta was about to be drained and some flour then put the gravy on pasta. I used bow ties - egg noodles would be yummy, too. It was a beautiful supper. Thanks, Momma Neely!

Fantastic! This has become our favorite family Pot Roast. Easy to follow recipe.
We sometimes even cook it all, the day before we plan to serve it, and refrigerate it after it cools down. The next day we skim any fat that might have formed on the top, slice the roast, cover slices and vegetables with juices, and just Microwave what we plan to eat about 15-20 mins (or until warmed through on 40-50% power. (Don't Microwave on full power; you just want to slowly warm it all through, not cook it. DELICIOUS!

Thank you, Momma Neely!! I was about to believe I was a complete "pot roast failure" with many tries and terrible results. Your recipe came to my rescue...it was delicious (even I liked it. I enjoy watching the Neely cooking show...you make it seem so much fun.
Thanks, JE

This is a very easy recipe, and the roast came out tender, but the wine was very strong, and I cut the amount in half. I added extra beef broth to it, but my husband found it too much. Next time I am going to use only the broth for the braising liquid, and add mushrooms to it. After slicing the beef, I returned it the sauce to keep it warm & moist.

I made this last night, following the recipe exactly as written. I was diappointed in the flavor. My husband thought it was good, but I think adding more veggies in the pot would have helped. The meat was so bland that we can use it to make burritos another night.

I followed the recipe exact and it was delicious! My husband doesn't normally like pot roast but he loved this recipe...as a matter of fact the whole family loved it and there wasn't any leftovers!!! This is a winner in my household!
