I use 1 1/2 cups cream & 3 eggs, skip the paprika & dill, substitute thyme. The casserole sets up better and everyone raves how good it is. I cook this dish for the holidays and it's a hit. The dill & paprika do clash but using just thyme seems to work.

I made this last Christmas for a potluck and was asked to repeat it again.

Something seems off with this recipe: only 2 eggs and 1cup of cream for a 9 1/2 x 11 casserole? Also, the egg mixture didn't set up after baking it according to directions. Now I'm frustrated and hungry...

I was really disappointed with this recipe. There are a few reviewers here-- definitely in the minority-- who don't like the flavor combination of smoked paprika and dill together. I must be one of them. I absolutely love asparagus and gruyere cheese, but I just really thought the flavors fought each other instead of harmonizing. I just love the Neelys- their Tarragon Dijon Pork Loin and Lime Bars are among the many recipes that are unparalleled. But this one just put me off.

I have had this recipe saved for some time but had yet to try it. In a word…delicious! We had some smoked gouda on hand so subbed that for the gruyere, otherwise made as called for. I will definitely be making this again. If you love asparagus give this a try…seems like it would be good made with brussel sprouts also.

This casserole is great tasting~! My children do not like asparagus at all--but put it into this casserole and they eat it up and begged for more.

I liked it.!!!!! I wanted more of a heavy duty casserole to go with an offbeat holiday chicken dinner, so I added this recipe to a rice casserole. I chopped up boiled eggs, chopped onions, added a teaspoon of lemon juice, plus all the ingredients listed in the original recipe. It was great. And of course I added the traditional canned fried onion rings so everyone would know that they were eating a holiday dinner. Without the onion rings, how else would they know? I just couldn't bear to serve green beans again. This was great!!!!! Loved it!!!!

Loved it! Made it for the first time last year and when gruyere is on sale I make sure to serve this dish as a side. To be honest, I like getting the compliments! I kept all of the ingredients except the dill (forgot it and it was delicious! A friend of mine still raves over this dish!
