It was good not mind blowing great but good. For those who complain about the cost of Gruyere Cheese, you can always substitute swiss cheese for the Gruyere (Gruyere Cheese tastes very similar to swiss but Cheddar or Havarti are not even close in taste which a couple of reviewers used instead of the Gruyere and then rated the recipe! I didn't saute the asparagus as long as the recipe called for because I don't like over cooked Asparagus and with the oven time I was sure it would be mushy. It was more soft than I would prefer but that's an easy fix - next time I will bake it less time.

I thought this dish was very good, the only thing I would change is the amount of bread crumbs on the top, I thought there were too much, but other than that very yummy.

I had a hard time finding a recipe for asparagus made in a casserole. I saw your show when you made this and knew then that I had to try it. At first I thoughtI it might be difficult as the only other way I knew to make it consisted of cream of mushroom soup and canned french fried onions as a topper. I made it this way for years. I had also only ever used canned asparagus. This recipe was so easy and absolutely delicious. My husband is a very picky eater and I really did not think he would like it, being unfamiliar with the cheese and panko but he absolutely loved it. I will definitley make this again and again and I'm sure it will get easier and better for me each time. As for people saying this recipe makes the asparagus mushy or soggy, they did something wrong. I thought I had sauteed the asparagus to long, but even if I did, the asparagus was still slightly crunchy and full of flavor with the gruyerer cheese and panko crumbs with paprika and parmesean cheese added. Just follow the directions people. Pat and Gina, I just love the two of you, you guys are so cute together and I love watching your show everyday.

I just love the neelys they really know how to get people to try different meals and eat more veggies. I made this casserole mainly for myself because I was on a fast not eating meat so this filled me up just fine, I also let my mom try it and she liked it also. The smoked parika and gruyere cheese makes this dish. its great, a little different for some people.... but its definetly a good dish.

I made this for the ladies in my book club and everyone wanted the recipe! It was one of the best vegetable recipes I've ever made. The only problem I encountered was finding the Gruyere cheese. Our regular grogery store doesn't carry it, but I finally found it at Whole Foods-- they even had some that was already grated! If you like asparagus, and maybe even if you don't, you will love this recipe.

This was really easy to make. I love asparagus and was looking for another way to prepare it. I couldn't find the gruyere cheese - - but I used cheddar and parmasian and followed the rest of the directions and it came out really great. The panco bread crumbs on top are just so crunchy and flavorvul. I'll make this again soon!!!

Made this with sharp white cheddar and milk as I had no swiss or heavy cream. Was okay, but extraI couldn't believe how much better it was after sitting in the fridge! Can't wait to make it again. Only will make up the mix, let it sit overnight and then put the panko on and bake it. Way to go Neelys!

Fab recipe from the Neely's !!! I used someone's suggestion to add the crunchy onion rings (like green bean casserole to the topping. Otherwise followed directions to a "T" ! Super delicious!! Made this for a Mother's Day Bloody Mary brunch and it was perfect!! Lots of compliments!!!
Thanks Neelys! Will make this again for sure!!!

I liked the idea of using fresh asparagus in a casserole rather than canned. It kept the fresher taste throughout the sauteing and baking. I gave this a three-star rating because it didn't quite measure up to what I was expecting. The flavors did not seem to meld/wed. I believe I could get the same or better flavor sauteing asparagus in garlic oil and topping it with the cheeses and panko. That way would use a lot fewer bowls/pans/casseroles! I fear that I was expecting too much from the ingredients list and the rave reviews of some reviewers. I fixed it for company this evening and most of it is left over. I hope it tastes better as a left-over! Incidentally, for those who live near a Trader Joe's, they now have shredded Gruyere/Swiss cheese, reasonably priced.

Another home run for Pat and Gina! Was looking for something different to do with asparagus and happend to be watching your show when you did this recipe last week. Had most of the ingredients and only had to stop for the cheese, baked it up right quick and was an instant HIT!! Thank you both so much!
