I made this reicipe for the most part exactly how the directions said to (I added a liltle more seasoning to suit my taste and it was delicious !!!! Creamy and the dumplings came out perfect. Thanks so much, I have never made chicken and dumplings before, and now this recipe will be a family favorite.

I watched The Neely's Sun. 6/21/09 Old School episode and was inspired.; went to the grocery store, and settled in to cook a Sunday dinner. I do not own a Dutch Oven, so I used a 7Quart Creuset/non-stick pot for simmering the chicken; reserved the broth; picked & shredded the cooled chicken easily; sauteed the onions, carrots, celery & garlic; added the broth & chicken & dumplings. I made the dumplings no larger than 1-1.5 inches in diameter and about a half inch thick. Covered & cooked as directed 25 minutes; tasted a dumpling, and decided to cover & continue cooking another 15 minutes...PERFECT: Creamy & Tasty....this one is a keeper.

I've always wanted to make my own Chik&Dump meal but was always afraid to make the dumplings. My grandma made the best! But, when I saw this episode it gave me the courage and I am SOOOOO GLAD I did. I followed the recipe exactly and it came out looking exactly like the Neelys. My husband kept wanting to help, but it was quite easy! As far as the dumplings, the previous reviewers must have over mixed the dumpling mix. That's probably why they had so much trouble. It was Heaven!

I will be making this again! Thank you Neely's

I made this and everything turned out great except the dumplings. Maybe because I used fat free half and half for the wet mixture for the dumplings, but something didn't turn out right.

I took at the dumplings at the end and added in pasta shells and it made a wonderful chicken noodle soup. I think I'll keep this recipe for chicken noodle soup.

The broth, vegetables, chicken were all very good but the dumplings were horrible. They tasted like dense balls of pure flour paste. I think the dumplings recipe needs revising. Perhaps it's missing an egg or some milk?

I woke up this morning with the flu...I turned on the tv to relax and the Neely's were on cooking up some "chicken and dumplings." I mustered up some energy and went straight to the store to buy all the ingredients! Came home, cooked up their recipe, and now...I feel great. Comfort food? It's much more than that.

    Thanks, guys!
