I am not one to really bake cakes, but this has boosted my baking self-esteem! It was SO easy to make. However, after reading some of the comments, I changed a few things. First, I used regular butter instead of unsalted. Instead of all-purpose flour, I used cake flower (Swan. You also have to grease and flour the pan so the cake doesn't stick. I had no problems with flavor nor did the cake stick or fall apart. I will most definitely use this recipie again.

The cake stuck to the pan, just like others explained. It's also try and rather tastless. Total disappointment.

The cake was good...I didn't find it dry at all but it was just an average chocolate cake for my family and I. I didn't really get the "cookies and cream" flavor as much I thought I would. Average cake, very easy to make but def. not the best I've had.

I followed the recipe to the letter and was very disappointed in how it turned out. The cake is really dry and dense. The frosting is really good though. Next time I'll use a different recipe for the cake.

I followed the instructions and this cake was too dry and dense. I think next time I will make my regular chocolate cake and use this frosting.

I made this for my family on Valentine's Day. I was worried because the cake seemed to get such mixed reviews on here. The only thing I did different, since so many people complained of the cake falling apart when they took it out of the pans, was to use silicon baking pans, greased with shortening and dusted with cocoa powder. They came out of the pans beautifully! It is a very dense cake, almost the consistency of a brownie. My children declared it the best cake ever and my son has requested that I make it again for his birthday! Many others on here have complained that this cake is not sweet enough. My husband and I both felt that was what we enjoyed most about this cake. The frosting is rich and decadent. But partnered with the cake, they balance each other out so it doesn't seem like a sickeningly sweet dessert. I put the leftovers in the fridge and it only got better the second day!

I never have liked a chocolate cake but my daugther's mother n law made this cake for the Super Bowl and I left her house with two extra slices. It was very moist and the icing reminded me of Blue Bells cookies and cream. When I say I never liked chocolate cake I mean never. But I have printed this recipe and added it to my recipe file. Excellent cake.
