This was a definte winner! My family loved the flavor and texture of the batter. I have used the same batter recipe with Chicken brest tenders and have achieved the same grand results. <3

Loved it! The fish and the spicy tarter sauce is soooo delicious! I also loved the "chips", because I didn't have a deep fryer, it took longer to cook the potatoes. This recipe was so easy to make! I will be making it again for my family!

Made the fish with rice and beans and broccoli - but used Tilapia instead of Cod...
    Excellent, crispy, simmering heat: excellent!
Will try with the 'Chips' next time...

Made this treat tonight and it was a hit with the family. I didn't have corn starch, but we adjusted some other ingredients in the batter like the beer and flour and it came out really good. The chips were perfect and would definitely make them again. I saw this receipe not to long ago on the show and didn't think about making it until today. I love this show and I know the Neely's will continue to bring the heat. By the way the tartar sacue was the bomb.

This was a great recipe for the fries and the fish (made my own slaw but I did have some trouble with the batter sticking to the basket of my frier. To solve it I sprinkled some flour on a half sheet pan and after letting the excess batter drip off I laid my fish in the flour. I also sprayed my basket with a bit of no-stick spray. I then laid the fillet in the basket with the side with the extra layer of flour on the bottom. That took care of the problem. I also had another thought after our meal was over. I may try just omitting using the basket altogether and placing the fish in the oil and using a slotted spoon to retrieve it. I used catfish and found that it need about 7 minutes to get the fish fully cooked. This is a great recipe and I will make it again!!

I've read all the comments. Most had nothing but wonderful things to say about this recipe, and I am dying to trying it, but a few stated "most of the crust stayed in the pan". I just wanted to find out what they were doing wrong. Oil to hot, to cold ?????

The fish fried up perfect, batter was crisp with great flavor and the spicy tartar sauce was a nice addition. Definitely going to make this again and again! Thanks Pat and Gina!
