The spice rub was so amazing that I made a batch of it and my husband now uses it on almost everything he puts on the grill! We refuse to make beer can chicken any other way now!

Amazing as always! Thanks Pat! Very flavorful and super moist. I did alter the recipe a bit. I used 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper instead of 1 tablespoon. I also added KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce about 5 minutes before I took the chicken off the grill. My 3 year old, who doesn't like chicken wolfed it down. I cannot wait to make this easy recipe again.

The spice rub makes this a standout from other beer can chickens! Thank you, Neelys! Sent this recipe out to my son in LA who made it for a tailgate and got rave reviews. He's back for the holidays and grilled it for the whole clan and all of us gave it 5 stars. Best ever.

Can this recipe work with a turkey instead of a chicken?

I have made this recipe twice and both times my husband wanted to eat the entire chicken by himself because he said it was so delicious. I can't believe how moist the chicken is and the spices are just perfect. Thanks Pat!

My husband and I just switched from charcoal to gas and this was one of the first recipes we tried. We have now made it over and over and it is always perfect. The kids love it and it is so easy to make. The rub is delicious and we use it on pork chops and steak. We always make a double batch of the rub to have on hand. Wonderful recipe! Thank you to The Neelys!

I just made this and it was great. I did make the mistake of using the "pop-out thermometer" that came with the chicken, though. It was a lil dry. Next time I will just use an instant read thermometer. According to my friends and family, next time will be very soon.
