I was able to get a whole chicken on sale for $2.50 and have always wanted to try the beer can chicken. The rub was DELICIOUS and the beer kept the chicken nice and moist! I used my gas grill and original had only one burner on with my chicken almost directly over the heat. Checked back about 30 mins later and realized the chicken was burning on one side. Turned down the heat slightly and rotated the chicken for even cooking. Only needed an hour.

I have made this chicken twice now and both times it turned out BLACK. I just bought a new gas grill and maybe I don't know how to adjust it yet, any help from anyone would be appreciated. The grill has three burners, do I use just one burner?

I got my husband out on the grill to make this chicken, and it was wonderful! So moist and flavorful, and soooo simple. Thanks for sharing this one with us Pat. It was great. Only mistake I made was I had 16oz beer and we struggled to get the grill closed, but it was still good!

Hi, I made this chicken and your garlic roasted potatoes for Fathers Day and my wife's 94 year old aunt said "it was the best chicken she has ever eaten". She is a great cook and that is quite a compliment.

Spices were really good, maybe 5 minutes of prep time and 1 1/2 hours on the grill. Chicken was really moist and spicy! Great recipe!

My family loved this recipe! The chicken was very moist and flavorful. I cooked two 3 1/2 # birds at about 350 on a gas grill for about 1 hour and a half and it turned out perfect! I did not have cumin so I used curry powder instead and it still turned out great! I am using left overs to make taco chicken pizza and Tyler Florence's curried chicken salad with almonds and raisins.

Great recipe, but can't you think of something better to do with the beer than dumping it out???

This rub is fantastic on any kind of grilled chicken, but it is equally good on other meats too. I did cut the amount of salt in half though. Other than that, I've used it on ribs along with BBQ sauce and they were out of this world. It was also great on a grilled pork tenderloin. And it's a fantastic seasoning on burgers. I make a huge batch of the rub because I use it every time I grill.

I am a newbie at cooking and this was my first time cooking chicken on the grill. The recipe was so easy to follow from start to finish. Everyone loved the chicken. Definitely recommend this recipe!

We first had Pat's beer can chicken at a family barbecue and it was delicious. We've made it several times ourselves and will never grill chicken any other way. I also put the spice rub under the skin for additional flavor.
We use Super-Q's mild barbecue sauce which we slather on the last 20 or 30 minutes of cook time.
We use a beer can chicken stand which helps keep the chicken upright and almost always do two chickens a time so there are plenty of leftovers.
I highly recommend this recipe. It is delish!
