The BEST chili I've ever made. Based on several reviews, I halved the recipe and still had enough chili for 3-4 days. I substituted the crushed tomatoes for tomato sauce, added 1/2 green bell pepper, and omitted the beer. I've tried beer in chili before and did not like the results. Maybe next time I'll try it.

This Chili was great. Even won me my church's chili cookoff. Made a few changes used cherry pepsi because i didn't have any beer and instead of the chipotle power got a can of chipote's in adobo sauce and just cut that up and threw it in seeds and all. Doubled up the recipe and this make a lot of chili but necessary because of the can of chipotle peppers. Could of used a half of can but it was a lot cheaper for the chipotle peppers in a can than the chipotle powder. Either way this chili was great. Didn't even add any salt or pepper didn't need any.

AMAZING!!!! I have never made chili before, but i live to cook!! I followed the recipe exactly how it says, but cooked it for about 3 hours and I added 2 tablespoons of sugar to turn down some of the heat! But the flavor was spectacular!!! Everyone loved it and there wasn't a morsel left! Great job Neelys!!!!!

I have been searching for a long time for the perfect chili recipe and this is it. Flavors are great and I made it exactly as written. Next time, I will cut the dried harbanro in half because I am a whimp. Everyone loved it even though it was a little spicier than we normally eat. Total Winner! WOW!

I LOVE this recipe. Complex enough for us cooks that love to cook, and easy enough to get someone interested in more complex meals, than tacos. I added 2 TBSP Dried Habanero and used Bison Organic Chocolate Stout for my beer. Damn good and that heat works well with the flavors! As a bachelor I like to freeze the leftovers in large soup containers.. amazing freezer food.

So my husband let me know that he has a Chili cook-off tomorrow at work. He says babe I need you to make some chili tonight..........ok....I've never made chili in my life. So I quickly referenced the Food Network for a tasty recipe and came across this one. I followed it to the tee except that I was out of oregano and I added some tapatio! My husband called me at work today and said that we got 2nd place in the cook-off!! I was amazed and the only thing that kept us from getting 1st was the other chili was made with fresh tomatoes. Excellent recipe!! Thank you Neeley's for this recipe :-

Really good. Very good flavor and just the right amount of heat. Mine turned out a touch too liquidy for my taste. Next time I might strain the diced tomatoes before adding to the pot.
