Great chili! The only problem I had was the amount of oil from the meat was too much. But I skimmed it off the top once it cooled and then it was perfect. Next time I will brown the meats in another pan and drain before adding to veggies.

I drain everything- diced tomatoes and I pull some of the liquid out of my crushed tomatoes. I think there is too much liquid otherwise.

I served this to my husband and brother-in-law after they hung dry wall in the basement. Manly work deserves manly meals! I served this chili over french fries. You would have thought I was some magical fairy of chili. Apparently, neither of them would have thought to serve chili fries!

This chili is going on the Super Bowl party food list. I'll make in on Saturday and transfer it to my crock pot sleeve for the party. I'll have made fries for chili fries and crushed Doritos if someone wants just a bowl of chili.

    Make this!! NOW!

The BEST chili I've ever made. Based on several reviews, I halved the recipe and still had enough chili for 3-4 days. I substituted the crushed tomatoes for tomato sauce, added 1/2 green bell pepper, and omitted the beer. I've tried beer in chili before and did not like the results. Maybe next time I'll try it.

Great Chili! Followed ingredients and directions to a "T". (First time ever making chili at home. It has a good amount of flavor and spice, not to be confused with hot/heat. Everyone loved it. I slow simmered everything covered for and hour, and then another hour uncovered. I did follow some of the comments and added a good amount of salt, about 2 tsp, to bring out the full flavors. I'm sure it also helps using the freshest spices you can get. I just happened to pop into Pensey's and grab some fresh ground cumin, chipotle pepper, and smoked paprika, so maybe that's why I didn't think it needed liquid smoke added as some other comments suggested. But I might try adding it next time just to see what it tastes like. Overall, great chili! Oh, and adding cornbread with honey, Mmm! Perfect warm meal on a cold winters night!

This is such a fantastic chili. I will make again and again. I will add the liquid smoke that some suggested, next time.

Followed this recipe to an almost "T"....
cooked up the black beans as well as the kidney beans, didn't have any available chili powder
so what I did was add a tbsp of cayenne pepper, and let me tell you it was more than suficient spice !! add another of if you reaaallly would love some extra heat
Lastly, added 2 diced beefsteak tomatoes and a can of the crushed tomatoes...

Loved this recipe and definetly will be making up some more !

This chili was wonderful, I used 2-3 lb of ground chuck instead of the meat in the recipe and just tossed everything in the pot and let it simmer for about 2 hrs and it was amazing.
