I am wanting to try this recipe but was wondering if Red Velvet Cake is the way to go. My son is not a big fan and I was just wondering if you were in a rush if you could use store bought cake mix instead- please advise before I make these- sorry I can't rate it because I haven't tried it. But since I have to I will give it 3 for now

We all love anything red velvet. This is really good for a picnic, biible school and anywhere kids are eating. I have hesitated to be negative but after reading the other reviews, I do want to say as a southern cook, I really enjoy the recipes and the family shows. But I do think that suggesting that Gina "tone it down" is one that might be helpful to those who find it "over the top" and distracting to those who really are interested in following the recipes. Not everyone has on line recipes available and have to follow the recipe on the show. Pat comes off as such a great guy, husband and father who loves to cook and really knows his way around the kitchen.

Follow the receipe exactly and you can't go wrong. It's simple and easy. I purcahsed the regular cones and the jumbo. I used the small cones first and had filling leftover to to fill six of the jumbo cones. The receipe did not indicate the size cones. The Red Velvet Cone cakes were delicious. My family and the ladies at the office loved it and asked for the receipe.

Cream Cheese icing: please follow the receipe as it is written. the consistency of the icing is perfect. To cut down on the sweetness, try kool whip to a small amount (a couple of spoonfuls at a time. The icing yielded enough to ice a three layer cake.

I love watching the Neely's, they have great receipes and great chemistry. Keep it coming.

What a wonderful idea. The recipe was simple and easy. My co-workers loved them. I usually enjoy Gina?s ?effervescent demeanor,? however, it was turned up way to high during this episode.

I hate doing this because I haven't made them yet...but I will be making them this weekend for my son. But I wanted to say to Janie that if she drove you that nuts, then there are always other channels you can turn too. Just a thought!

First time making cupcakes from scratch, and this recipe was amazing! Moist & delicious! Not too sweet either (ok that might be because I used splenda half & half sugar blend Only complaint is with the frosting. Had WAY too much left & it was kind of runny. Not sure if that was on my part with using fat free cream cheese & only 3 cups of powdered sugar (it was sweet enough to our tastes after 2 cups but it was WAY too runny to not add at least another

    Would use this recipe again!!

The Neelys make wonderful food and I love their recipes but someone should remind Gina she is no longer a cheerleader at a highschool pep rally. All of her singing, dancing, hair flipping, shaking her behind for the cameras and yelling makes it very hard for me to enjoy their show. She was so loud and crazy on this particular episode I muted my TV until the next show came on. I want to see cooking demonstrated. I am not tuning in to see Gina sing and dance.

I loved the recipe and my kids had a great time helping. I often test the Neely?s recipes and I?ve always been pleased. I love the chemistry on the show even more than the recipes. It is so nice to see a loving and fun couple on TV on a regular basis, especially in a society that seems to enjoy drama and negativity. My husband and I have been together for 18 years and we have a good time like the Neely?s. Couples that have been in a successful marriage for a long time have a good time and enjoy each other, and that's what I see when I view the show. It is unfortunate that some people may not have experienced a relationship like this and feel the need to question the legitimacy of anyone who has. PEOPLE, successful marriage, real love, and fun actually do exist for some of us. Don't hate, congratulate and maybe you won't have long to wait for your funloving relationship. Thanks Food Network. Keep up the good work!

I tried this recipe for my nieces and they loved it. I do not like when people don't enjoy the show and always want to criticize it but watch the show and learn something about love.
