Wow! This is not like any shrimp and grits recipe I've seen before, but we really love it. We've made this 4 different times since the show aired. The first time I didn't have a bell pepper so I used a can of diced tomatoes with jalapenos (Hunts. The bite of the hot peppers was great so I've used them every time since (even though I did add the bell pepper every other time. The grits recipe is very rich and savory with the cream and cheese. I've also served the leftover shrimp and sausage over rice and that was good as well.
Last night instead of grits, I made a batch of angel hair pasta. When the pasta was drained and back in the pot I poured the shrimp, sausage and tomato mixture over them. The wife and I thought that they needed one more can of the tomato and peppers but they were still wonderful. We think we like it best this way.
This will stay in our "regular" menu set. Quick to prepare, everything is almost always in the pantry and everyone loves it. A real keeper!

This was the easiest shrimp & grits recipe I've ever tried. The wine gave it a very rich flavor.
I made a shortcut with the grits and cooked them in my rice cooker.

Personally, I would not boil the grits in chicken broth. Just use half water and half milk. Cream isn't necessary. If you prefer your grits smoother, try an immersion blender, but the grits must be on the wet side. Let them continue to boil until the desired consistency. Won't take long.

This was by far the best recipe I have EVER tried from the Foodnetwork.com. It was easy to follow and easy to make, and the end results were just mouth watering!
I am looking forward to trying other recipes from the Neelys.
This recipe alone explains why they are so lovey-dovey to one another on the show.

I saw this on a recent episode and it looked easy and delicious. It did not disappoint. The grits were hands down the best part. The shrimp and sausage mixture was a little watery, but I used a slotted spoon before putting them on the grits. It had a good flavor, and was easy to make. Will definitely make this dish again.

This recipe is super easy and quite quick to make. I changed the grits out for a creamy cheesy polenta (We live in New Jersey and polenta is a family fave, and it came out great. I also added some roasted red peppers and a 1/2 teaspoon of cumin, and the smokey flavor really worked in this dish. I let it simmer a bit longer and added the shrimp a bit later, and the sauce thicken up nicely. This is going to be new regular around our house!

I have never had grits prepared this way, and they were excellent. I didn't have an bell pepper but still decided to give it a chance. I am glad that I did. The sauce served over the grits was really good. I will definitely make this dish again and make sure that I have all of the ingredients.

Being from Texas we love grits, but the parmesean twist was the BEST!!! I made this tonight. I wish I had read the reviews before making. I agree the shrimp and sausage was a bit watery, so I would thicken in the future. I used Turkey sausage, because that is what I had on hand. I also make the zucchini cassserole from this episode and it was really good. It was a hit and leftovers, which are usually ignored, will not this time. I could have sat down and just ate the grits. Love the show and the wonderful recipes. Thanks Neely's.

I am a single male, and I attempted this meal for the first time with a Dear Friend of Mine. I MUST say, it was absolutely delicious, AND easy to make. We did make a few substitutions, however. We used ALL beef-smoked sausage, and we also used Tomato Paste, instead of Diced Tomatoes, and it made the Shrimp Mixture thicker and richer. We took the advice of another reviewer and "browned" the sausage in a skillet prior to transferring it to the Shrimp Mixture. If I can make this dish, ANYONE, including SINGLE males who don't know their way around a kitchen CAN be successful with this easily-accessible recipe. THANKS NEELY'S!!!!
