I made this for our Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. It was indeed very easy and tasty. I made a few changes--used two large sweet potatoes and two large yams. I roasted them in the oven rather than boil and peeled them once they cooled a bit. I will definitely make this again. Thank you Neelys.

Very tasty, salty, sweet, and has a bit of a kick. Delicious. Definitely use yams though for that orange color, if you use white sweet potatoes it comes out looking like brown baby food...

We loved it...of course I add more of whatever I felt it needed more of...it was not bland it was good and creamy sweet with a little kick my husband asked me to put it in rotation...the kids loved it as well...

This was bland. I don't like hot pepper, so left out the cayanne. Maybe my sweet potatoes were too big. I had to add more butter, more salt, more molassas and put some brown sugar in to make them taste good.

Great OMG We made the Neelys smashed sweet potatoes from watching their show. Tell them the recipe ROCKS! I am not even a Bourbon fan but this is unbelievably good. We have to break the news to mom that this recipe is replacing hers for Thanksgiving dinner.

tyler...am I wrong or was it called "mashed" sweet potatoes? Did I miss "casserole"?

I was pretty blown away by this recipie I must admit! I did not have high expectations considering how mashed the recipie called for the sweet potatoes to be...almost like mashed potatoes; nonetheless the "casserole," as some may call it- I'd call it more of a mush dessert- was beyond amazing to the taste buds, and believe it or not there was no baking involved! I served it to people who completely disliked sweet potatoes but even they fell in love with the casserole! I would have liked a thicker consistency but I'll settle. All in all: Taste: 5 stars Simplicity: 5 stars Presentation: 2 stars Satisfaction: 4 stars
