This sauce is my favorite. I wouldn't use anything except Prego until I tried this one today. I wanted to make some spaghetti and didn't have any Prego. So I tried this recipe. WOW am I impressed. I will only use this sauce, sorry Prego but I can make my own now. Thanks Paula for sharing Aliced Jo's spaghetti sauce recipe with us.

This is so quick and easy and wonderful! Love it and my picky grandson who won't eat any sauce but Mommy's {read Ragu} gobbled it up! I find the nay sayers complaining that this is not authentic to be hilarious. Did you notice the recipe title?? Mary Jo's Spaghetti Sauce doesn't even come close to claiming to be authentic -- just scrumptious! Way to go Mary Jo and Paula.

I was looking for a quick and easy spaghetti sauce and this did not disappoint. I did find it sweet but it was delicious. I used turkey instead of beef and my children gobbled it up. I will defiinitely make this again.

I've never had a better spaghetti sauce! I don't know what some people are complaining about; they must all think "Ragu" is "real" or something. Whatever! And too much sugar?? Have you seen all that nasty corn syrup in so-called "authentic" sauces?? Blech ...
This recipe is also extremely economical for feeding a large family on relatively inexpensive ingredients. It sure spreads a little ground beef a long way!
This is amazing! SImply the best!

I agree that this definitely isn't authentic, but it is very flavorful! If I made it again, I would skip the sugar, though, as I thought it was a little bit too sweet (I think the combination of the tomato paste and sugar puts it over the top?.
I was thinking of maybe using a premade italian sauce instead of all the paste and puree, possibly, but I'll probably just try a different recipe altogether.
My husband suggested I use this to stuff green peppers! Really good idea! It's decent on spaghetti and great in peppers.

I should have known when I read that the recipe called for italian seasoning that it wasn't going to be an authentic sauce. Also, it was too sweet and I only put in 1 tablespoon of sugar. Luckily my husband will eat anything, so we still ate this for dinner, but I won't ever make it again. Actually, it had the consistency of chili. I think that I will go back to my tomato paste, tomato puree, ground beef, garlic and salt mixture.

This was no Italian speghetti sauce. Way too sweet, innappropriate seasonings - just an Americanized version of an Italian sauce. If you want authentic, use another recipe.

This was so easy to put together and the end result was great. A little to sweet (next time I will cut the sugar in half or just omit all together I used frozen/pre chopped onions and bell peppers and a bag of frozen sliced mushrooms. Instead of 1 1/2 lbs of hamburger I used 1/2 lb of hamburger adn 1 lb of italian sausage. I don't think I will go back to jarred sauce again. Just double the batch and freeze the extra for future meals.
