I went to my local orchard in October and found some Mitsu apples, a mix between a Japanese apple and a Granny Smith. I fried them in coconut oil, which made these outstanding. They turn out crisp, light, divine, and non greasy. A taste of heaven here on earth!

Outstanding!!! But, I did not fry them. I placed them on a cookie sheet that I had lightly sprayed with cooking spray and baked them in a pre-heated 375° oven for about 12 minutes. I also used brown sugar and a little less than the recipe called for. I made a small recipe yesterday, but they are gone. They were so good I’m making more for today. I used Granny Smith apples.

I read that so many had raw inside so I cut open the first one. It was more than done on the outside but uncooked dough inside,so I browned the rest and then baked for 15 min. I think the oil was too hot, and the dough not thin enough. They got eaten but it wont be a favorite of the cook.

YUK!This recipe is in no way like the Amish Fried Pies-I will never make them again-I live in the amish community of Sugarcreek, Ohio.

I did this recipe for the fourth of July and the kids loved, loved, loved this recipe. It's perfect, but make sure you role out the biscuits with a rolling pin to a nice layer so it will not brake when you put the filling in or you will have some doe that isn't cooked all the way.

These pies were soooo good, they went straight from the pan into my sons stomach. My 14 year old son told me they were the best pies he has ever tasted. Very easy to make and full of flavor. I did add a little fresh nutmeg. Thanks Paula!!
