Followed the recipe to the letter and the results were definitely not sweet enough. Not one of Paul's better recipes!!

I had persimmons on hand & used candied orange peels left from the holidays (instead of Applesause & raisins. Because of the switcherro, I used peacans instead of walnuts. Great!

Oh! My word! What a great taste. I was a bit worried because of the ratings and previous comments but I decided to try it because after all, it came from Paula! I followed her recipe but raised the brown sugar to 1/2 cup and added 1/2 cup regular sugar. Didn't use raisins or nuts because I didn't have any but added a few chopped dried apricots left from the holiday baking. I didn't have any applesauce but used green apples that were not being eaten; I cut them in pieces, added 1/2 c of sugar, 1/2 c of water and a dash of cinnamon in a saucepan and cooked till soft. I mashed them roughly and added them to the cake (bread batter and Oh! My! What taste: so moist that I called it a cake instead of bread. PLEASE, Try it, you will just fall in love with it; and how easy and tasty it is. You will HAVE to give some away for others to enjoy as well!

This bread was not very moist and not at all sweet. I wish I had known about the reviews prior to making it. I made it again with more sugar but it still lacks something. I will give it one more try with even more sugar and maybe more applesauce because it sounds like a great recipe in theory. I love Paula's recipes normally but this one is not very good unless there was a typo in the recipe listing online.

I don't understand why so many people had trouble with this recipe. Mine turned out picture perfect, moist and delicious. I will definitely make this again.

I made this according to the recipe and found that it only sounded good. There was very little flavor and it a little dry. I had to put jam or something else on it to eat it. Seems that it did not have enough sweetner. I used a regular apple sauce, that did not have extra sugar in it. I would not make it again.

This Applesauce Bread was DELICIOUS - another great office treat for my co-workers. Reminded me of Carrot cake.
