I made these for a friend who loves the drink and he and my husband both ate like 3 or 4 in one sitting. I did think the flavor was mild but obviously they are not going to be as strongly flavored as the drink. You do have to keep the icing nice and cool for piping, but that's normal for buttercream.

While this cupcake is decent, the frosting is just buttery. This doesn't taste like an Arnold Palmer at all, even with adding extra lemon to both the cupcake and the frosting. Like another review said, I wish I had read the reviews before making these. Very disappointing.

These were pretty good. I followed the recipe exactly, despite feeling like 2 cups of sugar felt wrong. The way they tasted was a surprise because the cupcake is actually sweeter than the frosting. The frosting tastes more like a sweet butter, and you only need a smear on top. Good if you're craving a hint of lemony sweetness. I would make these again in the summertime.

You have to follow the instructions to a tee. The first batch I made weren't bad, but tasted like lemon bars. You cannot eyeball anything with this. I'm not a huge lemon bar fan, so I tossed them and tried again. The second batch was delicious, and spot on I'm sure. I took them to a party and everyone loved them!

These were terrible they tasted like terrible lemon cakes. The tea mixture did not work and the frosting turned out runny and liquid

good. brushed a mixture of a cup of water with one teabag on the tops of the CAKES. added more lemon to the icing to distract from the butter. after my tweaks tasted good. :

I was disappointed with this recipe. I love Paula Deen but this recipe is no where close to being an Arnold Palmer. The batter makes for a good spice muffin and I would have to agree with the other reviews on the frosting, it was not good.

If I could do this again, here's what I'd try (and I'm no baking expert, so this is purely based off of hunches:
    - I would cut the sugar in the frosting. The frosting is WAY too buttery and sugary. As it is, I already cut almost half of it, actually added lemon and salt, and it is still too sweet. Not to mention that the butter was hard to stir (and hard to digest. I wonder if there's a different way to thicken it aside from literally just using two sticks of butter? (I also had way too much frosting left over after I covered my cupcakes/cake.
    - I tasted barely ANY tea in the cake. I would up the amount of tea bags I use next time. And the amount of lemon juice.
    - I would also cut the sugar in the batter (as well as the frosting next time, too. All I taste in the cake is sugar -- no tea.

If I didn't tell anyone what it was supposed to taste like, I think they'd still enjoy it - but disappointing for Arnold Palmer lovers!
