I felt aweful after I made these to give to my BF's dad. I decided to leave of that sloppy mess that was supposed to be icing. and they had a weird texture/bite. Not too sure how to explain it. I think someone needs to take the recipe down and revise it.

You bet! Please use your gut instinct, common sense, experience. 1 cup of butter in 2 cups of powdered sugar is going to make a buttery, greasy icing (not to mention a wasted stick of delicious butter. 1/2 cup of liquid in 2 cups of powdered sugar is going to make a runny icing. I did not make these because the recipe just didn't appeal to me.

I looked at the reviews and i saw one posted by user name "Doctor" in February and I thought i'd give it a shot. It turned out great! It wasn't as flavorful as I thought it'd be but it was still great. Thanks!

I read the reviews and used Doc's recommendation to cut the tea back to 2 Tbls.; I also replaced it with Aunt Bertie's tea concentrate...I love Aunt Bertie!! She did the trick...great tea flavor and went well with the lemony flavor!!!

I don't know, maybe it's the tea/milk combination but it was lacking something and the frosting was below average at best. The next time I made them I tweeked it (people hate when I do that but I can never leave a standard recipe alone!. I used 1/2 and 1/2 instead of milk with the tea. It made a richer liquid and I added a little cinnamon & nutmeg to the dry ingredients and a scant handfull of raisins to the batter for more texture. The cinnamon, nutmeg and lemon flavors were a delish combination. I made a cream cheese frosting instead. Sorry Paula, this tasted much better and received a modest B+.

I made this cupcakes for my boyfriend, his favorite drink is an Arnold Palmer so I was hoping to surprise him with some great cupcakes. They were awful. The tea flavor wasn't prominent enough and the frosting was much too buttery and they were an all-together disappointment. I was hoping for more with a Paula recipe but I guess I was wrong.

I would have to agree with heather on this one. Everyone loves them that I have made them for. The frosting had to be whipped really good and kept very cool to get it to pipe though.

I followed the recipe down to a T, and I can say this is the most disappointing cupcake recipe ever! The cake itself was alright, certainly not the greatest. In addition, I really could not distinguish any extra flavor in the cake batter infused with the tea. The icing was another disaster altogether. The tea did not mix well with the icing, and the whole thing ended up looking like baby sick! I certainly will not be making this one ever again.

I made these cupcakes a few months ago, & they were a big hit. Everyone who had them keeps requesting them at get-togethers. The taste was absolutely delicious. The frosting was a bit hard to use, but I stuck it in the fridge for a while, then frosted the cupcakes. My icing didn't come out white either, but I figure tea isn't white so that's ok.

From the cupcake to the icing, there was not the flavor I was looking for. The texture of the cupcake was not cake like at all and the icing was not something that I could have piped onto the cupcakes. Unfortunately this is one that will go into the trash.

    A sheer disappointment.
