Hmmm.. Okay on the one hand this is delicious, just as is written.
But I am only giving it four stars because of the amount of calories in this dish. When I was making this, I felt so guilty!! But I wanted to follow the recipe exactly, so I didn't cut back on anything. One and a half sticks of butter, two cups of sugar, and one cup of nuts for only two or three potatoes!
So I made it, took one tiny bite and guiltily watched everyone lap it up in two seconds. I didn't mention how unhealthy it was though!
It's delicious. But only four stars!

Always a hit when I make this, but I don't use any sugar in the mixture, only the topping.

I just prepared this dish, but I added 2 cinnamon sticks and a teaspoon of whole cloves to the boiling sweet potato water. It gave the sweet potatoes a wonderful flavor and aroma. To me, it is mandatory to put cinnamon sticks and/or ground cinnamon, cloves, butter, vanilla extract and brown sugar to any sweet potato recipe. Later, I added a tablespoon of ground cinnamon to the souffle mixture. My husband and I both agree that this is a really great recipe. It wasn't too sweet to us and not bland by no means but if you don't like really sweet food, then cut down on the sugar. My food MUST have flavor and this is filled with it. I will prepare this recipe again in the future.

This recipe calls for 2-3 small potatoes,3 cups, this doesn't seem like very much. Did anyone use more in this recipe?
