I am more accustomed to the barbecue rib recipes that use a sweeter, and a heavier tomato base. Having said that, I think this recipe is very good. It has a lighter flavor, and is simple to prepare. I appreciate that the ingredients are pretty much what you usually would have on hand. In addition, if you're trying to cut down on the amount of sugar in your diet, this recipe is a good compromise.

The sauce recipe makes quite a lot of sauce. Since I have so much left over, I'm going to try it on chicken breast tomorrow.

Anyway, if you're curious about Paula's recipe, as I was, I would suggest that you give it a try. I am sure that it's more "waistline friendly" and would be a good alternative for someone who is diabetic and needs to avoid the calories and sugar in the traditional, thick tomato based barbecue sauces. In addition, I always have confidence in Paula's recipes and am willing to give them a try. Thank you, Paula.

I've been trying out various Rib recipe's to find one that everyone in my family would like. This one was GREAT!!! I baked them in the oven on Friday so my hubby could grill them on Saturday. The only change I made was to the Sauce, I added 4 more tablespoons of Brown Sugar only because we like our sauce a little sweeter. They were almost fall off the bone when I took them out of the oven, I wrapped them up and put in the fridge to be grilled the next day. Husband got the smoker going and smoked them with apple wood for 2 hours, they were wonderful and he had to be careful when turning as they were already pulling away from the bone. Will be making them again this weekend. Easy to do and excellent!!!

Wow! I think we have some sour grapes from a Joyce lady from Ft. Lauderdale! That did offer some comic relief while I was reading the reviews! Lord, we all love Paula! Her stories are fabulous, her example there are second chances for people who are willing to work hard, her sharing and promoting our beloved South, and best of all, all the fabulous recipes!!! I have taped every single show and consider them to be a treasure! Where's my pan!?! I'm going to cook some yummy barbequed ribs! Thanks everyone for the tips on adding more sugar. LOVE YOU PAULA!!!

This one was difficult to rate because the flavor was good, if you prefer the southern vinegar style bbq sauce. I did expect that but yet it was a bit to much. I took the suggestions of thickening it but yet that vinegar powered everything as well as a greasy style sauce. Again, hard to rate cause yet the flavor was powerful just not my type.

Followed recipe except instead of grilling on the outdoor BBQ (too cold out I did it on my stove top on my BBQ grill pan.
They looked a little dry because I forgot to baste them until 1/2 through, so I popped them back in the oven on broil for another 10min in the original pan w.all the sauce to moiseten them up. Turned out crunchy and moist~

    ps-
I didn't read the reviews until 1/2 through the oven cooking but I heeded the advice regarding the sugar.... I popped the pan out of the oven and added more brrown sugar during that first hour.

Delicious.... I look forward to the spring when I can put this on the outdoor BBQ.

    Hey Joyce -

Paula may not be a "chef" but you're not a "critic". Come back and comment when you have half of America emulating you.

Hey Paula - great rib technique - just what I was looking for. I'll use this recipe over and over!
