I like my meatloaf a little firmer. I thought the taste was just okay, but probably too much cheese. It was moist, but that made the meatloaf fall apart. The French Fried onions on the top were unnecessary (I'd add chopped onions to the mix. Cooking time was much longer than mentioned. I really wanted to like this, but will not make it again. However, I will not give up on Paula!

My girlfriend made this for me for dinner after seeing Paula Dean make it. It was an incredible meal! This meatloaf is a keeper!

but a note to Lisa in Boise...you did exactly what you asked others NOT to do! You gave a one star to a recipe you haven't tried and you are not trying it until next week???? Not trying to be critical or mean, but that one star brought the overall rating of this recipe down. I don't think that people realize this when they post on this site.
And by the way, you will not be able to place another "review" once you have already done so. (Just a little FYI. As far as this meatloaf, we found it very moist, flavorful, and downright comforting!! Was looking for something to make with Rachel's "cabbage straw" and this was perfect!! Now, I need a good nap!!! LOL

This has excellent flavor - a real step up from traditional meatloaf recipes. Even with cutting back a bit on the bacon and the cheese this had loads of flavor. My whole family gave it a 5.

Made it tonight. Unfortunately, neither my son and husband liked it. I thought it was okay. I remembered to put the brown sugar in the topping. Was too sweet. Also, put the bread on the bottom of the pan. I won't make again. The French Fried onions almost burned up after 10 - 15 minutes more in the over. The green Bean casserole recipe only has yo put them on top of something for 5 minutes - so I think they went on a little too soon. But I do love Paula and will try lots of other recipes!

Even though I have a fabulous meatloaf recipe that my husband LOVES, I decided to try this for a change of pace. He loved this one even more! I highly recommend it for taste, and for ease of preparation. I agree with another viewer who remembered to put 2 T brown sugar into the ketchup mixture, and also bake it on 2-3 slices of bread to absorb grease. Another Paula winner!

I watched Paula make this recipe this morning, and I just had to try it, since I've never been satisfied with other meatloaf recipes.
It turned out great! She added a few things on the show that aren't in the recipe, though. She put 3 pieces of white bread, end-to-end, in the bottom of the pan, then placed the meatloaf on top of that before cooking to absorb the grease, which worked really well. She also added 2 tablespoons of brown sugar to the ketchup/mustard mixture that she used for the topping, which added a BBQ taste, just like she said. Great recipe! A definite keeper.

I prepared Paula's Bacon Cheeseburger Meatloaf this evening for my family. Everyone loved it! We were all a little surprised that it really does taste like a cheesebuger. (I left the bacon out I may include it next time - I think this may be our family's new favorite meatloaf recipe! Go Paula!
