Reduce mayo to 1 & 1/2 cup, increase shredded cheese to 3 cups, grate onion to measure only 1 tablespoon. Do everything else as indicated on the recipe and then stand back! I serve this at parties and people SCARF THIS UP! One friend of mine put the dish on her lap and announced that she was keeping it all to herself!

My boyfriend and I were very dissappointed with this dish, not only was it very oily but to us salty. And as said before a waste of ingredients

This is so good, I can't tell you. I served this to my husband's football friends, and they couldn't get enough, even though some of them are picky eaters. I loved it too! Would be great in lunch-boxes with crackers or on toast points.

I made this for a housewarming party that I was hosting and it was a big hit - was the first to go. I used pre-shredded packaged colby cheese and it still came out great. I think one key to this dish turning out well is mincing the onion rather than chopping. I will definitely make again.

This is so easy to make and it's just wonderful. I always have to make double the recipe because it's gone so quickly. There has not been one single person that I have served this to that didn't like Paula's baked cheese spread.
One little thing -- if it sits for awhile you have to mix it because it gets very oily.

Normally Paula's recipes look so good. This was very greasy. I used a package of shreeded cheese as opposed to grating block cheese. Maybe that was the problem.

Hey Peggy...I know where wildwood is! I used to live in Ballwin, but live in WV now.
Please keep in mind that colby will yield a fair amount of grease and when you see things on the show, they are edited and doctored to look perfect. They probably drained off the excess grease and then baked a few more minutes.
Also, if you soak the chopped onions in water a few minutes, it will take some of that heat out, or you could saute them first in a dab of butter or olive oil.

This was delish! I followed the suggestions from the other readers and used low fat mayo, shredded colby (and moz, horseradish, sweet onion and a splash of chipotle pepper sauce. I also halved the recipe to test. A definite keeper

This was a bit greesy and needs less onions in it. It hurt everyones stomach that ate it.
