I recently made this casserole for a brunch time baby shower. It was a big hit and was very easy to put together. One word of caution... this bubbled over in my oven and made a massive mess. It burned to the bottom of the oven and caused the smoke alarm to go off numerous times. Next time I will definitely be putting the pan on a baking sheet.

My husband and I liked the recipe but was not in love. I read some of the reviews and modified the recipe a little. I did not use as much liquid and only used 6 eggs. I did not do the prailine topping exactly. I can't eat nuts, so I left that out and I could not do all that butter. So I just mixed all the dry ingredients together in a zip log bag and sprinked it on the top layer and put some slices of butter on the top. It had a nice crispy crust, that I loved. I will make this again yet I will cube the bread for a better presentation and make a sauce of my cinnamon and sugar mixture. The casserole was so sweet I did not even want or crave syrup. I think the raspberry syrup is nice to give that sweet and sour thing going. The casserole is so sweet you need some sour to break it up. Overall, it was pretty good, but not great!

This sounded so good, but turned out terribly for me. When I opened the oven to take it out it was just boiling in oil. Had to clean my oven afterwards. The recipe looked so good and the reviews too so I was very disappointed. Fortunately, the church youth group breakfast had lots of other things for the kids to eat.

I used a pullman load and maybe I put too much bread in. Definately would cut some of the butter out!

Howdie Paula. LOVE your shows. We love French Toast. But was tired of the everyday drab regular stuff. Saw this on TV one day. And saved it in my computer. One day i decided to make it. Since there are only three people in my house (one is only 16 months, i only made 1/2 receipt. WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO MAKE IT!!!!!! It was the best breakfast we have EVER had. The crispness of the edges and moist inside by not too moist. Fluffy. My mouth watered while it cooked. I did use raspberries but have decided that i could used any fruit if there is a preserve and a liquior to go with it. Needelss to say, I make this a lot now.

This recipe is great. I have made it for my family Christmas morning, church functions, and my coworkers birthday party. The only thing I did different, instead of layering the bread in slices, I cubed the bread. It seemed to soak up the egg mixture so much better and baked better. Thanks Paula, it will be a family tradition each Christmas.

This was a great recipe and fun to make with my kids. Just a little too sweet and rich, next time we'll cut down on the syrup but thanks Paula Dean!

I followed the recipe, did everything I was suppose to do and I was not at all happy with the results. It looked great, smelled great but it was very soggy. I must have had it in the oven for an hour and a half hoping the center would get a bit more firm
My family thought it smelled great and were eager to try it, everyone was disappointed because it was just to mushy on the inside. I understand sometimes recipes can be altered, but I don't have the time to be tweeking a recipes all day.
I will not be making this again.
