I really liked this, except it was very wet. Next time I'm going to only make one layer so it's not so wet.

So convenient. I made this during a sleepover so I could throw it in the oven in the morning for a housefull of guests. It was like bread pudding for breakfast! It was a little undercooked (being my first time, didn't realize what the consistency should be and wet, but they didn't care because they loved the flavor. Next time I will cook it longer so that the liquid is absorbed (we returned it to the oven.

I've tried a few french toast casseroles now. I just made this one today. I've come to the conclusion that they'll never be better or even as good as the traditional way of making french toast. So if you're looking for a the yummy traditional french toast taste, don't do a baked casserole version. However, if you're doing for something that's different - then this might be fine for you.

This was amazing! I've been wanting to make this recipe for a long time. I used two baguettes, sliced, so the casserole had three layers. I used 1 stick of butter for the topping which is plenty. All the liquid did not absorb overnight so I drained most of the excess. Next time I'll use 1/2 cup less half and half.

Fun and easy! I used english toasting bread instead of french bread, 1 cup of cream and 1 1/2 cups of milk, and made only half the praline mixture. Baked it for one hour and it was PERFECT! Big hit on New Year's morning.

Decadent and delicious breakfast casserole for our new year's day brunch. I used about 1.25 sticks of butter for the topping because that's all I had on hand - and it came out fine. I used 1 T. corn syrup and 1 T. maple syrup in the topping and served extra maple syrup on the side, which no one seemed to need. Make sure you cut your bread in thick slices because there's a lot of custard to be absorbed. I might use slightly less of the egg mixture next time.
