This spaghetti makes my husband swoon. The sauce is soooo good! It takes a few hours but well worth it when you have the time. I like that you can change it up based on what you have on hand (I have used 28oz crushed tomatoes, 1.5 cups water and 2 tbsp tomato paste with equally tasty results. We love it and it feeds a crowd, or makes for great leftovers!

Very tasty! I learned a little trick after making it once and having several pans to handwash.
1. Cook the pasta in the stockpot, drain, and put it in the 9 x 13 baking dish, tossing it with a little olive oil and covering it with plastic wrap.
2. Brown the ground beef in the same stock pot, drain the fat and add the ingredients for the tomato sauce in the stock pot with the cooked ground beef and cook THAT, covered, for about an hour.
3. To assemble set aside half of the cooked spaghetti in the stockpot lid (which is already dirty from cooking the sauce for an hour! and made the recipe as directed. One lidded pot to wash and one baking dish in the fridge with leftovers in it, which cleans up easier after having the spaghetti lightly coated in olive oil in it. LOVE this recipe, LOVE Paula Deen!

I added 1-1/2 teaspoons of crushed red pepper. This was excellent. Everyone just loved it. Will definitely make it again.

I didn't use the bay leaves. I added black olives, mushrooms, and pepperoni. IT WAS GREAT!!!

This is absolutely DELICIOUS! This is my preferred way of making spaghetti from now on. It is VERY flavorful and my family loved it. Of course I doubled up on all seasonings as usual except salt. The bay leaves, onions, garlic and italian seasonings give this ALOT of flavor. In addition, ground beef is salty enough. Caution: Do not add too much pasta. Half of the pasta box will do just fine. I also added 1 more cup of tomato sauce and used 3 more cloves of garlic, and used the italian blend-garlic, oregano, basil diced tomatoes. With these tweaks, this was fabulous. Enjoy everyone.

I have made this recipe at least 3 times and the first time my daughter said Mama you have got to make this more often!!! I made it last night and she said "I wish we had food like this at school, you need to come cook for us!!" My husband has never been a big spaghetti fan but he now states "This is one of my favorite meals now!!" I do add sauteed mushrooms in along with meat for extra bulk...DELICIOUS!!!
