Love this recipe. I have a copy of this recipe that's so old that it calls for one 59 cent sized cool-whip. My recipe also uses cream cheese in the filling mixture. I also lightly dredge the bananas in lemon juice to keep them from turning dark.

I also reduced the graham crackers to 2 cups, retaining the 1 stick of butter. Added 1 t vanilla to the butter and powdered sugar mixture(also reduced sugar to 2 cups. Doubled the number of bananas and added 1/2 can of pineapple tidbits (drained well to the pineapple mixture. Drizzled chocolate sauce and pecans on top and added cherries for color. Delicious

This is an awesome desert. My mom used to make this for my sisters and I in the summer. On top of the whipped cream she drizzled chocolate sauce and added cherries cut in half and some pecans. This is such a great reminded of old times with the family. Thanks Paula for the memories and awsome reciepes you have.

Taste and presentation was perfect. Just like my husband remembers as a kid. I have made graham cracker crusts in the past without difficulity, but this crust was too dry. I ended up adding more butter then the receipe called for. I also found that it was very difficult to spread the cream mixture on the cooled crust without the crust coming appart and sticking to the cream mix. Maybe I made a mistake with the crust....I melted the butter before adding it to the graham crackers. Either way it was a huge hit at Christmas with my family and I am making it again today for Christmas with my husbands family.

This is a holiday regular at our house. My mother made it and we all loved it. She also added chopped pecans (just a few and a few pieces of chopped marachino cherries to garnish the whipped topping....

I love this dessert and so does everyone who has tasted it! I did make a couple of changes. I used a box of vanilla wafers with the butter for a crust instead of the graham crackers. I bake it for about 5-8 minutes to set. Also make sure to beat the eggs and butter until very light and fluffy, and add a teaspoon of vanilla extract. The one can of pineapple is fine but I like mine with more pineapple. I think it balances out the sweet of the buttercream. Try it, you'll like it!

The dessert was a success for me. My daughter is allergic to pineapples so we substituted strawberries. ON day 2, we decided to throw some chocolate syrup on top! After all, don't all banana splits need chocolate!
