If you substitute the filling (butter, eggs and powdered sugar with a filling of 2 packages of instant vanilla pudding, I think the people that thought it was too sweet will like it better. When you serve, drizzle some hot fudge sauce over each slice.

I love desserts but this was just way way too sweet. The filling is just too much. We ended up throwing the whole thing away!

I thought it was delicious. But I just though it was too sweet. I could have done with about half the confectioner's sugar. It was a hit though!

I've never made this cake myself im just reading the comments, deciding wether or not its worth making? I would like to reply to Mariza, about the whip cream. Its NOT spray cream, its COOL WHIP. Which, if you dont know what that is, is a whipped topping found in 1L tubs that look like margarine tubs (but a bit taller. Hope this helps!

I'm glad I took the time to read most of the reviews. The most helpful tips was 1 CUT BACK ON THE SUGAR_ 2 cups of sugar is perfect. 2 2 cups of crumbs NOT 4 and third soak the nanana slices in the pineapple juice - otherwise they turn brown.
i am confused with the whipped topping. I'm new to baking/cooking, and am not certain if I bought the right stuff? 1 can of whipped cream. It seems to melt fast. Does anyone know what I did wrong?

First off, I LOVE Paula Deen and ALL of her recipes!!!! They are delcious and sooooo easy to make and everytime I make something from her show, it's always a fan favorite with my family and friends. John from San Fransico, it just drives me crazy when people like you take the time out of your obvious lame lives to comment on things like this. Why are you even reading the recipe? You know how Paula cooks and therefore shouldn't be surprised by her amounts of butter, whipped cream, sugar or whatever else! Grow up!! If you want to live a miserable life chewing on carrot sticks and tofu (which are really good by the way, but there IS MORE to life than that, then do it in the privacy of your own home, off your computer so we all can all enjoy ourselves in the kitchen making Paula's delicious recipes! OH, and by the way....this cake is OUTSTANDING!

For some reason I didn't think I would like this. I loved it. boy was it good. Next time I would add a little bit more bannana but think that was me cutting a bit to thin. My wife and sister-in-law also loved it.

My family loved this dessert! I think next time I will beat the butter, sugar and eggs longer - I thought they could have been lighter or fluffier. All in all, my family raved about it and wants me to make it again. Thanks Paula!

3 sticks of butter, a pound of powdered sugar, 12 oz whipped cream and that's not even factoring in the sugar from the graham crackers, pineapples or bananas! I'm sure it tastes good but how hard is that when all you'e doing is mixing sugar and fat? Give me a break.
