I thought this cake was very good. I
added 1/2 cup of granulated sugar to the
crust and thought it was even better. I
also added a layer of strawberries one time when I made it. It was a big hit
    with my family....

This was made for a group of women who are in a book club and wanted to do a luncheon. There were 12 of us who participated and all of us thought this recipe was wonderful. As for me, I had two large helpings! Thank you, Paula.

PS Real whipping cream was used. That's a must!

I just made the Banana split cake for the first time and it called for 4 cups of crushed graham crackers and 1 stick of butter. It tasted great but the graham crackers didn't firm up. I think 4 cups was too much for the recipe.

I followed the recipe exactly; the crust did not come out the way it should have and it was too sweet for me and the family. I have always enjoyed Paula's deserts, but this will not be included in my recipe box.

I changed some of the items in the recipe. I used 2 packages of graham crackers and 1 stick of butter and it worked great after I baked it. I also used cream cheese instead of eggs and used only 1 stick of butter instead of 2 sticks. My guests couldn't stop talking about it. It tasted between a cream cheese and a banana cream pie. mmmmmmmmmm!

MY ONLY QUESTION IS THAT THIS RECIPE HAS BEEN AROUND FOR A LONG TIME. DID PAULA DEEN COPY THIS FROM SOMEONE OR DID SHE INDEED INVENT IT? garnella5@aol.com

I seen this and I had to make it immediately, which I had to make some substitutions. I only used half the recipe for the crust, I suggest using real graham crackers and then crushing them yourself. I had bought the crumbs and they were pretty tasteless. I also used a no calorie sweetener because I didn't have any powdered sugar. I made it both ways and I actually liked the no calorie sweetener better as it had more of a butter taste instead of the "frosting" taste the powdered sugar gave it. So far everyone who has had it has absolutely LOVED it, I've made it 5 times in the last month.
