Made two for Easter, my guests loved it. Made the crust and filling Saturday and added the bananas and whipped cream Sunday. The filling turned out perfect, it cut perfectly.. maybe the trick was putting the dish with the filling in the larger pan and adding BOILING WATER. Was a little concerned after reading the reviews on Friday.

I'm happy to see that I am not the only one who made this recipe expecting a nice pie and wound up with Banoffee Soup. I also agree that there is too much butter in the crust. The bananas floated to the top and did not stay in the middle and it did not have a toffee taste. It tasted like what it was, condensed milk.

The taste was good, but the title says it all. I cooked it as per the directions and it turned out like soup, and not very toffee looking. Disappointed. I wonder if Paula has a convection oven. In reading the reviews and experiencing my difficulties, I question if that is the cause.

I made this pie with a prepared crust and canned Dulce de leche that I heated to make it pourable. It was very good but a little goes a long way.

I made this pie for my 15 year old sons party and the kids loved it. Paula's food is always good and this was no exception.

I followed the directions exactly & came out with Banoffee Soup also. I watched the show but don't remember what she said about the temperature of the oven. I preheated mine to 300 like it says in the recipe (bought a pie crust for convenience & put the milk in a foil covered dish in a water bath like she said for 1 1/2 hrs. After that time, I commented to my husband that it didn't look as dark as hers did on the show. I put it in for another 1/2 hour & not much change. It never firmed up. It was a mess to serve. It tasted ok, but I couldn't have served it to company. My nephew told me it needed to be in a bowl. You could be right about the temp needing to be higher. I wondered if I should have only used 1 can of milk instead of 2. Will have to try again.

Fist of all, I think that with all the different opinions on this one it has to be said that there is just somthing missing in the directions. I watched the show and printed and followed the directions and mine came out like soup. I think the flavor was good but it was a mess. As soon as I cut a piece out all the other ran into the empty space. My bananas even floated to the top instead of staying in the middle. I guess there is some debate on the lenght and temperature to cook the milk. Maybe I'll try it again. I've never been let down before by Paula so I'm a little confused on this one.
BTW....who in their right mind would sub evaporated milk and expect toffee??? Are you kidding???

My grandson couldn't believe I was making whipped cream instead of buying it. This was a wonderful, rich desert.
    We love it!!!!!
