This meatloaf was excellent! and super easy! my husband requested meatloaf and I had never made one. There was a lot of pressure to do it right and let me tell you this came out excellent. I even substituted italian bread crumbs in the can for the fresh bread crumbs becasue thats all I had and the meatloaf was still awesome! My husband enjoyed it so much he didnt touch anything else on his plate and just ate second and third helpings of meatloaf.

Wonderful recipe! I'd agree with other reviews that this is not a typical "BBQ" sauce...but it is really good! I added a tsp of chipotle powder to the meat and it gave it a really nice subtle smoky heat.

Very Tasty!! I used ground buffalo and it was great! I'm not a big fan of BBQ sauce so I was pleasantly surprised by this. It didn't overpower the meat. I really enjoyed this meal! So did my husband.

I was a little skeptical, but heck it's Paula Deen! I wouldn't say it tasted like BBQ, but this is darn good. Everybody loved it. I used 90/10 ground beef and it was good and firm for slicing. Next time I think I'll use more of the glaze in the meat. Or it might even be good to slice the top of the loaf and let the glaze inside. But this is a winning Meatloaf for sure!

I first saw this recipe from my best friend (her mother, 31 years ago in Ottawa, Canada!! Back then it was 6 oz can of Hunt's tomato sauce. For Jackie Forness below me: the original recipe uses half a can of tomato sauce in the meat mixture. 1.5 cans (9 oz in the topping. I wouldn't add the entire 8 oz to 1.5 lbs of ground. Also 1 tsp of salt is plenty.
I sweat the onions in a bit of olive oil and butter as I don't like raw onion in ground meat.
I've been making this for 30 years and still do.
I wanted to browse BBQ meatloaf recipes and was surprised by Paula using the same one.

Also my recipe bakes for 1 Hr and 15 minutes at 350"F

This was absolutely DISGUSTING! I followed the recipe, set the basting timer, measured everything and it was under cooked after an hour and a half and so incredibly salty we couldn't even eat it. I love Paula, but this recipe belongs in the trash!

awesome. I can not have gluten so I substituted the bread crumbs with Lays original potato chips made into crumbs and decreased the salt to 1 tsp. I didn't have tomato sauce so did a substitution of a 6 oz can of tomato paste and 6 oz of water. Added 1/2 cup to meat as recipe directed and used the remainder for the sauce. I will do it the same way next time since it turned out so good. Cooked in an 8x8 cake pan, with sauce poured over, for 1 1/4 hours. Divine!! Will make a regular.

This was very tasty! The meatloaf was very moist, and the sauce was excellent, and could be used for other recipes that call for barbeque sauce. I did not need to add water to the sauce. Instead of salt and pepper, I used Emeril's Essence, which added a wonderful flavor combined with the BBQ sauce. Definitely a recipe that will be used for years to come.

I have tried so many meatloaf recipes and failed to find a good one but this one was my last : It is delicious! I think it's the sauce more than anything that makes it but it IS the best! Only variation I do is since my fam doesn't like onions, I substitute onion powder instead and usually use italian breadcrumbs. I also don't use 2 cans of tomato sauce- I put about 1/2 of 1 can in the mix (less than that and it doesn't quite get the flavor and the rest into the sauce and add a bit of ketchup also into the sauce just to cut the straight tomato a bit- but the vinegar really gives it a kick! I also don't have to thin it out with any water. And even better is to warm up for a meatloaf sandwich the next day with a bit of mayo! A MUST try if you like meatloaf!

I like it. But, I chop up a stalk of celery into it and instead of bread crumbs, I always use broken up Wheaties. It greatly improves the flavor. Some times, instead of the barbecue sauce mixture, I just pour catsup over the loaf to a thickness of appx. 3/16" thick. Excellent!!! Mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables in a mild sauce, and cinnamon apple sauce. My mouth is already watering in sweet anticipation!
