This is truly the best pulled pork I've ever eaten! The sauce is what makes it! It's not a heavy, Ketchup based sauce. It's a thinner, but medium spice " kick" that makes this pork so melt in your mouth good! Absolutely no need for any other condiment on this meat. Great recipe for larger party, and would be great made ahead of time. Just reheat! I marinated in refrigerator for 24 hrs, and cooked it the next day, low and slow! Wonderful recipe! Thanks Paula!

First have to share, we actually pulled Paula out of the kitchen. She spent 10-15 minutes with us. She was cooking and dealing with everyone and this AFTER she became a big star. My husband could not talk he was so excited. He is from Savannah and knew her from the Best Western and he just jabbered like a little baby because he was so excited.
This woman is nothing but AMAZING.
NOW for this recipe. OMGoodness. We planned on having a huge party and was going to have the lunch part of the party catered. Instead we felt we should do the BBQ ourselves. 3 new crock pots later we made 60 lbs of pork later, we had the most amazing lunch. People would take one bite and then say OMGoodness who made this. After that we gave 2 of the crock pots away and made it for family get togethers, our dinners and just because it is sooooo good. Once we did not have apple juice bc I forgot it, used orange's instead. So good either way. I don't comment a lot but this recipe is so EASY and so good and you MUST try. Again, this woman is the real deal and has the heart of Texas.

i went to school in NC and ate many a pulled pork sandwich. while i enjoyed this, it lacked the melt in the mouth quality i was lucky enough to experience. now i am no chef so maybe that is the problem. this recipe had too much to do without a great end result. my girlfriend is from SC(booo and makes a simple bbq sauce from ketchup, vinegar, water, sugar, garlic salt, chili pepper and mustard. it smells awful cooking but makes everything taste great. we use this simple recipe for all things pork:
http://www.bukisa.com/articles/315364_sleepy-pig-roast
but we also cave into using organic cabbage and hippie bakery rolls. now if only we could find some decent baked beans out here....

My pork shoulder roast was about 7.5 lbs. I got it on sale for 97 cents a lb. It was a fantastic buy and it was the first time I had purchased this type of meat.
This recipe was so easy and the outcome was fantastic! All my guests were impressed. One person loved it so much they had 4 pulled pork sandwiches topped with cole slaw and bbq sauce. Someone else had 3 sandwiches, and the rest of us had 1 or 2 sandwiches. It fed 19 people in all (I had sides to go with it.
I will definitely serve this again, but I think this time I will cut down the apple cider vinegar a tad, as it really did smell up the house. Someone mentioned that I should boil some vinegar and water on the stove to get rid of the smell, but I will try this next time.
Thank you Paula Deen!

This was so delicious and easy. I put mine in the slow cooker on high for 5 hours. The sauce was plentful and yummy, so I skipped the BBQ altogether. Another home-run from Paula!

I found this recipe 2 years ago and wanted to try since I had alot of pork loins that needed used up for a large gathering. Well, can I say, after my 1st attempt at bbq of any type except for bbq beans, I've been asked to make this on many occasions. I do use the pork loin so there is very little waste from fat and bone...ALL meat. Since I have to make so much (at least 100 people I utilize my electric roasting ovens and reduce the heat to 200 degrees and cook overnight. EASY and with GREAT results.
Our last party I had 2 small containers of left over pork...ouch!!! I wanted to have some. Thank you Paula...I love ya!!!!

I made this recipe for the "lunch club" at school. Over 30 faculty participate in the "lunch club" and it was my turn to bring my part of the lunch for this group.
It was an absolute hit and everyone in the group wanted my secret. I had to tell them that I was not responsible for the recipe, it was Paula Dean's recipe. I had to share the recipe and numerous faculty members are now making this delicious dish for their families.
However, I did make it in the crock pot and followed the recipe. It was just so juicy and tasty. I am making it this weekend for a gathering of 25 people. Thanks Paula because this is certainly a keeper.
