I MADE THE WITCH'S HAT CAKE A FEW YEARS AGO FOR MY FRIEND WHO HAS A HALOWEEN BIRTHDAY AND SHE LOVED IT. I DIDN'T USE CHOCOLATE ICING THOUGH. I FOUND IT EASIER TO ICE WITH BUTTERCREAM ICING WITH BLACK FOOD COLORING.

I have to say this cake was so cute once it was done. My husband made it for his sister for her birthday which happens to be on Halloween and it was such a hit. It came out so nice and so good. Thank you Paula. :

Cute cake! For those who may have difficulty with the frosting of this hat, may I suggest freezing your cake layers so that it crumbs less and you can frost it easier. I would also suggest using a bigger dowel to put down the center so there won't be any slipping at all.
I decorate cakes and the one thing I've learned that has helped to no end is the frozen cake technique. After decorating you can let it come to room temp. I also think this would be cute decorated with orange polka dots!

Well...I attempted it. But in the Humid Alabama weather we had, It just melted and fell over. :p I wish I could have gotten a good tip on how to keep it up. I put it in the refridge over night it stayed up then but I took it out 2 hours before my party and it just became a chocolate blob. Im sorry Paula...I think I failed this one. :(

The good rating was because it was so good tasting!!

really cute cake. Bring back the Paula that was on this episode. If you watch closely you can tell how down to earth she WAS. The Paula on the newer episodes is so very over the top with her cackling phoney laugh. Used to love watching ,but now not so much.

it is kind of hard to cut so be careful that you have it on a flat surface so it will not fall trust me not so pretty, anyways cut it in half first then cut the top part of the hafirst then cut the bottom half and it will work out really well, at least it did for me but it will also for you if you are very carefull !!! Have a HAPPY HALLOWEEN !!!
