Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 8 tablespoons butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk

Directions

In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together. Cut butter into mixture until it begins to look like cornmeal.

Make a well with flour mixture and slowly add milk into the middle. Knead dough with your fingers and add milk when necessary. Roll out dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll out to desired thickness. Cut with small biscuit cutter.

Butter bottom of skillet and place biscuits in pan. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.

    Beyond Awesome

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I'm sitting down right now with a cup of coffee and my 1 and 1/2 dozen of biscuits out of this recipe and there are beyond... awesome!!! Did the temp. just like must of reviewers agreed on @ 450 and used a cast iron pan. Modified it only with a 2/4 of milk and 1/4 of buttermilk and used a coca-cola glass to make the cuts and let me tell you all, they are fantastic! If you are having problems with size, rising or flavor it is maybe because you do not enjoy cooking and do not follow the recipe as it says, i advise you that everything is on the love and desire that you put into what you do, i've done lots of recipes from this site and also the tv and i cannot say they are perfect as theirs but i know i didn't go wrong in any aspect. Paula, way to go girl!!! Read more

While they are not healthy they are tasty

Rated: 5 stars out of 5
I agree with previous posters, I do butter milk (aka milk with a little lemon juice or white vinegar) slightly more then she... said in the recpie, also cooking temp of 450 works great, I just check em until I like em about 10 min or so does the job. I also like to add fresh herbs or cheese to change it up. Great job Paula. Read more
