I had this in the oven when I read the review and was a bit concerned. No reason what a light flakey biscuit!! No I did not get 3 dozen, but I never worry about that when I cook, I used a small biscuit cutter and got 18. Baked in my cast iron skillet. This is my go to recipe from now on. The temperature should be added, for the novice, but I love to cook and used 425 for 17 minuets PERFECT!!!!

this was a recipe from the fireplace cooking episode, which is why there isn't a baking temperature.

This is a great recipe, light, fluffy, airy biscuits. Even my wife likes them and she usually doesn't care that much for biscuits. I read the negative reports and thought they were funny. For example a recipe for biscuits should not have to tell you to preheat oven, if your are going to bake for 12 to 15 minutes you should realize that you can not put them in a cold oven, it will take at least 10 minutes to reach desired tempature. If you cook biscuits much at all you should know the temperature should be between 425 and 450. Also you can not roll them real thin and think they will rise like a yeast roll. If you roll about 3/4 to 1 inch and bake at 425 for 12 to 15 minutes this recipe makes great biscuits. Please learn to cook before you criticize Paula.

I agree with tidbits of alot of the posts. i am wonderding if there wasnt some typos with this one, after all no one is perfect. I did bake mine at 425 for about 13min, its going to depend on how thick etc. No i did not get 3 dz had a feeling i wouldnt when i seen only 2 cups of flour haha. I have only done one batch so far and i got 21 thin ones and i did let them rest for 15 min. So next time I will make them thicker try for about a dz unless i need more and i will just dbl it. Soo.. 425,cut desidered thickness, rest for 15 min, smother in butter(before and after, place next to each other in pan.....got it. thank you oh and dont expect perfection haha yum =

I agree this recipe needs some tweaking. Try working the butter into the flour by squeezing small cubes between your fingers to form butter disks in the flour. And any southerner knows to melt a couple of TBS of bacon grease into the pan then sop the biscuits in the grease before baking.

Paula, I'm so disappointed. I expected these to be killer biscuits since you are a Southerner. These were dry and dull. At the top, the recipe claims to make 3 dozen -- I couldn't even make a dozen out of this. And give us an estimate of the thickness they should be; we don't know how much they'll rise, if any. Also, what temperature are we supposed to cook them at?

I found these dull, tasteless & dry... I even used extra butter. Not much more to say!
