A little history of the Bo Burger. It was created/invented by Courtland O'Brien at Obie's Diner, a popular (necessary, essential eating establishment for Cornell students located on West State Street, Ithaca, New York, in the 1950s. The order of the build was hamburger, fried onions, fried egg, and cheese. Invariably, the dessert was Obie's heated Apple Turnover slathered in butter. For me the perfect accompaniment was Obie's homemade chili with extra Tabasco sauce (for that Obie never charged me for the chili. Bo Roberson, widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes of all time and certainly one of the finest athletes in the history of the Ivy League, was a student at Cornell in the 1950s. Thus, the name, Bo Burger.

This burger was great! Reading another review I decided to add more seasonings. I added a packet of Hidden Valley Ranch to the meat along with the salt and pepper. I also added bacon topped them wih bacon. Yum!!

Can't say enough good things about this burger. Paula has another hit here.My husband is country boy and he simply adores this. I agree with the other reviews about the use of the egg...Don't worry it adds great flavor. We have these often and absolutely love them.

I never write reviews but I had to write one for this burger. I have never ate a burger until I ate this one, this will be the only burger I will ever fix, it just melts in your mouth! I was hesitant to add the water to the hamburger meat but I did and let me tell you, it was the best thing I ever did besides adding salt and pepper. The egg is great and the onion is a must, toasting the bun just made it all perfect. These were so easy to make and I have made them now for two nights in a row....big hit here, let me tell ya!! I am not kidding, it was love in the first bite!!

These burgers have become the favorite burgers of our family. When we first saw the recipe, we were a little hesitant to put an egg on a burger, but one bite convinced us that this was a delicious combination! So...don't be afraid....try it, you'll like it!!
