This was the first layer cake I've ever made. I had to bake it in shifts as I was dealing with interruptions from my two year old and 12 week old. But boy, how wonderful it was in the end! One of my layers fell in the middle, too, but I think I could have baked it for another couple of minutes to solve that problem. Anyway, Paula is my daughter's favorite. She's been saying "hey paula" to the TV ever since she was 13 months old. I didn't think I could go wrong with one of her recipes as my first "from scratch" layer cake. My family was very impressed. And after I work off all the butter in this one, I will make it again.

This cake was wonderfully delicious, but the filling was not as I expected. Mine came out kind of crunchy instead of creamy like expected. Maybe something I did wrong. Also, I didn't need as much confectioner's sugar as it called for in the frosting. Otherwise, the cake is excellent and the frosting was wonderful. The filling was very favorful, but the texture was not good. Since the cake is so high in fat and sugar, I won't make again soon, but will definitely make again.

My garbage disposal enjoyed this cake. It was a disaster. The cake fell in the middle looking like a bundt cake by the end. The carmel sauce pooled in the middle of each layer. the cake was dry and crumbled beyond repair. The frosting was so hard to work with it pulled chucnks of cake off as i was frosting. What a mess, nice flavor concept but too hard to execute.

I followed the directions in the recipe but the frosting came out horrible. It was stiff and dry. I even kept adding more heavy cream. I think next time I will make a buttercream frosting and not melt the butter and brown sugar before adding the confectioners sugar. If the directions are correct I don't know what happened to make the frosting come out the way it did. I will try it again one more time just to see if it comes out better next time. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

The flavor of the corn is enhanced by the garlic bitter and the lime. What a wonderful summer treat and so easy to make!

the cake tasted wonderful but it stuck in my pans - how long do you let the cake cool before taking them out of the pans?

This cake is not only easy to make but easy to remember without the recipe, Paula called it her 1234 cake and that is how I remembered it to make it. Fast, Fun, and easy. Thanks Paula for another great recipe.
