My husband's favorite cake is Caramel and he absolutely loves this recipe. He said it was the best cake he ever had. This cake was not hard to make and has the most delicious filling and frosting. Be sure to drop the cake pans to get the air out and make the layers even. This cake was fun to make and even better was how everyone enjoyed themselves eating it. I would recommend this recipe to everyone who loves Caramel Cake.

I have made this cake 3 times, and each time it has turned out great. I will admit it can be messy, which is why I have refined the recipe to get rid of the filling (I double Frosting and use it instead and shorten the cook time, giving a more moist cake. This is my family's favorite cake, and they demand it all the time.

Hit, Hit, Hit! We read "The Help" and first heard of Caramel Cake. I got this recipe and ingredients before I read the reviews - which was good because I would've been scared off, and what I read in the reviews are basic cooking mistakes blaming this recipe, in particular one that claims she is so experienced. Pay attention to the ingredients as you cook them, do filling and frosting slightly warm (not hot, not cold and if you can do a roux, then you can do this. Delicious - thank you Paula for bringing this North.

This cake appeared so delicious on the show, and I thought as a 1,2,3,4 cake, should be easy enough. I decided to make it for my moms 84th birthday! I was concerned at the look of the cakes upon removing them from the oven. They fell in the middle & were crumbling all over! I'd made the filling as the instructions stated, so i proceeded with that step. It looks just awful!. It's going in the trash. You can't even frost the darn thing, so I'm not bothering to waste even more ingredients on this Hindenberg of a cake! I wish I'd read the reviews first. Won't make that mistake again. I'm just wondering how so many others didn't have this problem, but just as many did? Weird, huh?

I love caramel, and this recipe really caught my eye. Traditional scrummy cake with buttercream filling, delightful!

This was by far the worst cake I have ever made/had in my entire life. The cake itself was disgusting. It fell apart. It should have said to completely cool it before assembling it, though that wouldn't help the taste.

I am a part-time baker and a full time parole officer - when the head of our state department asked me to make this cake for her sister who was a food snob - I read the reviews and then reluctantly said "sure, I will try" - I began wondering if this was a trick to fire me if her "food snob" sister hated it - Well, I altered the recipe a bit by cutting the powdered sugar to 1 1/2 cups rather than 16 oz. in the frosting - I sprayed the 3 8" pans (not 9" with Baker's Joy - let the cakes cool overnight - used some, not all of the filling - piped cream cheese icing around the base and a small dab in the center - garnished with a cherry and almonds - much to my wonderful joy - the whole family called me raving about the cake - it is now in my favorites - for the cake itself, next time I will experiment with butter recipe box mix to save money - I hope I picked up brownie points for this which may help me in the future -
