I was looking for a different type of side to serve at Thanksgiving dinner, and came across this recipe. It was a hit! Everyone (even the children loved this one! I will definitely make it again. I also want to switch it up with zuchini, which I believe will also be tasty.

This recipe is almost like an old family recipe but instead of cracker, we use French Fried Onions in the mixture and on top with the cheese. I guarantee you will like it a lot. Try it.

Pretty close to my recipe, but I always use 1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar, 1/2 cup mayo, pinch of salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper and 2 tsp garlic to give it more flavor. It's always a popular side dish for Thanksgiving or sometimes I just make it as a meal for myself and my husband!

My family has been making this for generations, but you forgot the 1/4 cup of lemon juice...makes all the difference. Also the crackers should be cheese nips or other cheese crackers.

Thank-you Ms. Deen!!! I made this and even our five y/o liked it! : I just changed it up a bit w/steamed broccoli and spinach. I also used Italian bread crumbs instead of crackers and it gave it a richer, heartier taste.... This dish will certainly be replacing the traditional green bean casserole at our table this Thanksgiving!

My mother has been making this for YEARS! It is a staple for our holiday dinners, we all fight over it! The only difference in our recipe and this one is we put an onion in it!
